Manning pocketed $11.5 million in endorsements in 2005,

highest among football players, according to Sports Illustrated.

Tiger Woods led all U.S. athletes with $87 million in endorsement earnings.

.....and probably double that amount in 2006 once his tax records become public. Manning is as smart off the field as on. And if nobody has figured it out yet, Peyton Manning has the NFL Draft figured out too. Just this week, Peyton restructured his contract to the tune of 8 million dollars to make room for teammates and future draft picks. This guy, unlike punks as PacMan, has brains to realize he can make more money by marketing himself through the media and unleverage himself from the teams cap space to allow for another run at the Super Bowl. He's obviously studied this genre as much as his playbook, which by definition, means that Peyton is setting the bar and rewriting the business strategy playbook of how to be the greatest NFL football player of all time. When time passes and the Hall of Fame comes knocking, Peyton Manning will be the epitome of an NFL Poster Child, the proverbial Moses of the lost generation.

fromthetop2 will have to work this restructured contract into his hate cards! You sure wont see alot of top flight players restructure there contract for the better of the team! Peyton you keep on showing what the word "CLASS" means! I love how that SB shut the critics up! Pre-SB, critics would have done flooded this subject with derogitory comments, but Peyton shut them up!

Many athletes each year restructure their contracts, stop putting Peyton on a platform above everyone else when he is doing what many do each year. This is one reason why people have animosity towards Peyton because people think everything he does is holy and no other athlete compares. Well this is not the case. Peyton is a great football player and even better person, however putting him up on a pedestal goes against all he stands for.

Peyton restructuring his contract provides more hate cards, for just some of the following reasons:

- He's so rich, he doesn't even NEED the money he's getting paid (Class Envy Hate Card)

-He's able to do that because he such and endorsement pig! (Overexposed Athlete Hate Card)

-Why doesn't he just take the money and give it to the working class if he's got so much?(Socialist Hate Card)

- Why is he restructuring his contract? (NFLPA Hate Card)

- Did he do it himself or did he involve his agent? Probably he did it himself! (NFLPA Agent Certification Hate Card)

- More cap space for the Colts?? (AFC South Hate Card)

- Peyton did something that was unsefish, and very team oriented (PacMan, Sin-cinnatti Bengal, San Diego Charge(d) I'm Gettin' Mine Hate Card)

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
