THURSDAY'S GAMES

Sycamore vs Cheatham Co.

Harpeth & Waverly Central (BYES): they'll play their second game on April 26th

CURRENT ANALYSIS OF DISTRICT 11AA

It's now clear that the two Sycamore-Harpeth meetings next Monday & Tuesday will decide the regular season crown in this district. That is unless both team should split with one another and in that case Harpeth still holds a slight advantage over Sycamore seeing how the War Eagles split with Montgomery Central & Harpeth swept their rival tribe.

Montgomery Central swept Creek Wood so despite having the same district record as the Red Hawks it is the Indians that currently have the inside track to the #3 spot in the district. Creek Wood won the first meeting they had with Fairview earlier this season and the rematch is Thursday and that game has huge implications in the standings. Fairview sits one game behind both of those teams with three games remaining against both of them following a huge sweep so far this week against the Cubs.

Stewart Co. & Waverly Central sit tied in the district standings and those two split the regular season series with one another. Cheatham Co. is just one game behind both of these teams with two games remaining against each so it's essentially the Cubs who control the inside track to the #6 spot in the district thanks in large part to their upset win last week over Montgomery Central.

You are right. Right now though I think that Harpeth & Sycamore are clearly a cut above the rest when those two teams are playing their best. Montgomery Central swept Creek Wood so until proven otherwise I would rate them above the Red Hawks. The only thing keeping them teams tied right now is the fact that Central lost an the "upset of the season" at Cheatham Co. last week. Fairview is quietly still in the mix for the #3 spot as well sitting one game behind both of those teams with three games remaining against them. Another thing favoring Fairview right now is the fact that unlike Creek Wood THEY ARE THROUGH WITH SYCAMORE FOR THE SEASON & UNLIKE MONTGOMERY CENTRAL THEY WERE ABLE TO SWEEP CHEATHAM CO. That sweep will off-set the fact that likely after tomorrow Fairview will have split the season series with Stewart Co. (who MC will be looking to sweep themselves tomorrow).

#'s 1 & 2 are a cut above the rest. #'s 3 & 4 are good enough to play with 1 & 2 if either of those teams isn't truly on their game on a given night. #5 is a question mark of a team that is improving by each day.

Sycamore has a very good team led by a great Coach, Dale Daniel. Harpeth has a very talented team

who is undefeated in district play. My question though is how Sycamore is head and shoulders above

everbody else when they only split with Montgomery Central and has not played Creek Wood and

Harpeth yet. Also Creek Wood was regular season champions last year and did not win the tournament

and Harpeth three years ago sailed thru the regular season, ranked in the top ten in the state, but did

not win the district tournament so maybe by the end of another probably great tournament who knows who

will win.
