Greeneville/Clinton

Greeneville 60, Clinton 24: It was a weird one in Greeneville.

First, Clinton basically sent their JV team to the non-district regular-season finale. The Dragons' top six players didn't even make the trip.

Neither did head coach Chris Lockard. The results were inevitable going up against Class AAA's No. 5-ranked Greene Devils.

Tremaine Gash led Greeneville (29-2) with 19 points. Antwaine Wiggins managed 10 despite playing just the first half.

What is that about?

I would think a game against Greeneville would help Lockard get his team ready for district play. Kinda threw his team to the lions huh?

I do agree that the Head Coach should have been there. I would understand it much more, had he been there.

Lockard and all the players who did not go to Greeneville were in the stands at Bearden watching Powell play.

I do not think that it was very fair to Greeneville either, I am sure Coach Duncan would have liked to have seen a little bit of a challenge instead of not playing the starters at all in the second half. I figure Coach Duncan scheduled this game to help him get ready for the District but at least the younger players got some playing time.

The school, school board, fans and anyone associated with Clinton should be absolutely ashamed at this. Coach should be reprimanded in some way. This sounded like something out of a city parks & recreation league. I'm sure those players were getting better while sitting in the stands watching another game.

If you don't want to make the return trip, don't schedule the game in the first place.

Unbelievable

No justification for this at all!

This was very disrespectful. I am surprised an adult would do this. If you need to scout a team, you don't do it on a night that you already have a game scheduled. What could he have possibly been thinking? If he needed to scout this team, why didn't he do it earlier in the season? You know your schedule and your off nights.

If I were a parent of a young man on this team, I would be upset at the message this sent to the kids.

You are supposed to honor your commitments. No excuses. I agree there should be some kind of reprimand or consequence.

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
