Milan Vs. JCS

Recommended Posts

5 Facts:

JCS has looked good this season but lost to Westview, the only top tier 2A team we've played. (No offense intended to the good folks at Gibson County or Humboldt - just looking at wins and losses)

JCS has had success, which means we will not sneak up and surprise anyone the rest of the year. Teams will be ready for us.

Milan has a tradition of winning that every school in the state would love to have. They are accustomed to winning the big games, and their coaching staff knows how to get them ready. They have the type of program that breeds success year in and year out.

Milan will be bigger and faster at virtually every position on both sides of the ball. Smart play and hard work have benefitted JCS so far, but speed kills and the JCS coaching staff can not coach our kids to be faster or bigger.

Final fact - JCS does not quit and takes the field to win. It's hard to stop a man or a team who believes and just keeps on coming.

Suspicion - JCS will prepare well and play hard, but it's going to take a really good complete game to stay with the powerhouse we'll be facing in the Milan Bulldogs. Best of luck to both teams as they prepare this week.

I have no doubt about anything you have said but Milan also takes the field to win plays hard all game. We never give up and just keep coming too.

There were dropped balls by both teams. Westview had a couple of wide open seam passes that looked like they would go the distance but the ball just squirted off the receivers hands. JCS had several receivers have the same thing happen to them, but JCS also got hit pretty hard like the pass that looked like it would be a TD on 4th down where Westview's safety crunched him. Looks like weather won't be a factor this Friday though. Milan's running game should give them some good passing opportunities.

I guess it's my turn.

Here's the skinny. JCS has been a defensive team for the past few years. There is now doubt about that. And the JCS defense continues to (honestly) get more frightening as they progress through this season. The first few games were rocky with an inexperienced secondary, but no one can deny what they displayed against Humboldt (Especially the Cooper brothers at MLBs). I think the defense showed just what they can do to predominantly running teams.. Westview was the wake up call they needed. The offense, though, has yet to play to their potential. But I will expect to see a fine tuned, disciplined offense for this game.

Milan is bigger, faster, stronger.. Milan has the athletes. Simple fact. They can run with 7 guys, or they can pass it with quick recievers.

I'm not predciting who will win or lose this game. If the JCS defense plays perfect, then it will be a game. I do not expect this to be a high scoring game at all... But I could be suprised. This is certain to be the best game to hit West Tennessee on Friday night, and I think this has the potential to be a very hard fought, down to the wire game.

Both teams will be well prepared. Both teams will be pumped. Neither team will accept anything less than a win.

This is destined to be the best 8-2A Region game so far this season. I'll see you all at JH Stadium on Friday. Bring the lawn chairs.. I have a feeling it's going to be standing room only.

Twizzy, I have to agree with you...Milan will have the best atheletes on the field...JCS will have to play near perfect to keep it a game...if so it could be exciting...if not it could be a long night...Milan has a long history and always comes prepared...JCS will do the same...don't think it will be enough but I do think they will fight till the final whistle and hope for a lucky break...JCS defense has come along way since we opened at FA...but not sure it's enough...I have said before I am not big on moral victories...and while it will be exciting to be on the field at Johnny Hale with Milan...I want to win and anything less will be a dispapointment...but not sure we are ready for the likes of Milan...
