Mo West vs Greeneville

As a Morristown East Fan, We want Morristown West too win. They beat us already, and if

Greeneville wins, their could be a 3 way tie for 1st. This will make it harder for Morristown

East to land 1 of the top 2 playoff spots. I know Morristown West defense has played better

of late. I still think they are a half of step slow. Spead them out, and I think Greeneville will

hit a couple of big plays. West offense is ok, but they cannot score with Greeneville. Playing

this game in Greeneville is just too much for Morristown West.

Go Canes!

If West wins they will be first into the playoffs. Big implications for everyone. I really believe you are right but the young men will decide that Friday night.

Well all is good and everything West has done really well here as of late of bringing there team together; but i hate to tell u this Greeneville team is working extremely well together. West isn't the team of old. The devils are playing great ball right now and honestly i personally feel as though they will be a very hard team to stop this week next week or even in the state quaterfinals

Well well well, this message board should turn into some good talk by the end of the week. Somebody mentioned a three way tie for the top, the winner of this game will win the conference. With a Greeneville win they will move to first place because they will hold the tie breaker with West. East still has to play Daniel Boone. i wish the Devils got to play Boone again.

Personally I think that Greeneville and West will 1+2, then it will be East, Boone, and Volunteer fighting it out for the final two spots. East, Boone, and Volunteer will just need to figure out what they need to do to stop Tennessee High or Curt Phillips and Sullivan South to get past the first round.

I just hope if Gville beats West they will not take the next two games EZ thinking they have the #1 spot already.

I think Gville would beat Boone 9 times out of 10, they just caught Gville on a bad night. Greeneville came off that tough lose to the KY team which was really good an thought if we are good enough to hang with an almost beat that team then they should be unstoppable, an they went into the Boone game thinking they were just going to low them out of the water, cuz thats what they were told all week. well Gville got there an Boone caught them with there pants down. After that game with KY the Boone game was set up for disaster,,,,,,,,,,,,,, IMO

This looks like one of the best Greeneville teams West has seen in awhile. Their production is very good and their defense is stingy. Just looking at what I can compare between the teams and have the following:

West Points for 131 (18.7/game) Points Against 112 (16/game) Conference Foes Points For 105 (26.3/game) Points Against 28 (7/game) Opponents Record 27-23 Common Foes Jeff, Cherokee, Boone -- West is 2-1 against these teams Points for 73 (24.3/game) Points Against 49 (16.3/game)

Greeneville Points for 165 (23.6/game) Points Against 89 (12.7/game) Conference Foes Points For 111 (27.8/game) Points Against 47 (11.8/game) Opponents Record 26-25 Common Foes Record 2-1 Points For 73 (24.3/game) Points Against 47 (15.7/game)

There is no doubt that either team can win this game. The offense, defense, and special teams will not be able to make any mistakes because the opponent is capable of taking advantage of any mistakes. I do not believe it will be a blow out on either side. The winning team will make the other pay for a mistake and come out with the win.

I am a West fan and believe we will win. However, I also know that Greeneville is at the top of the conference in talent/ability and has a real opportunity to beat us this year. If we control Greenway, we win. If not, we lose.

Greenway will be ready, He has watched this rivalry for a while. I'm sure he understands the importance of this game. The coaching staff at Greeneville seems to have Greenway under control, keeping him composed and cool on the field. He struggled passing against Volunteer but he still stayed cool enough to lead the Devils to the win, running the ball well. I'm sure the Trojans will be trying to hit him every play, no matter if he has the ball or not.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
