Coalfield vs Harriman

Since you all got to hear from the Coalfield fans, it's time to hear the other side of the story. Yes, a fan was taken off the field by police after the scuffle. He was not associated with the team or any player. I heard a Devil Coach ask who that guy was. It's hard to tell what started the fight but it came on the play right after Coalfield's big #74 went down. injured after being double-teamed by two offensive lineman. That tells me that maybe someone was retaliating.

If playing to the whistle and getting after people is dirty then I guess the Devils are guilty. They had to listen all week to how they've never beaten Coalfield, including from the Coalfield coach in the newspaper. They get to read on this board all week how the physical Coalfield team will dominate our speedy team. Well, the Devils got tired of hearing it and responded with some tough physical play of their own. Physical and dirty are not the same thing.

There was no taunting after the game. The coaches sent the players, under principal's orders, off the field immediately after the horn sounded. They never got a chance to enjoy the win on the field so they celebrated outside the field house. It so happens the field house is on a hill overlooking the stadium so everyone can see it. They did not direct any of the celebrating towards Coalfield.

Funny how Harriman is the bad guy here and no one from Coalfield remembers how the devils needed a police escort just to get off the field at halftime there last year because the the Coalfield coach was going psycho. This was a huge win for the devils. There were two teams out there tonight that wanted it bad and I'm sure neither side was completely innocent. But, the Blue Devils shouldn't be trashed here just becuase they won a game and some people can't admit the better team won.

That is correct...the coaches were informed by the principal to leave the field immediately following the game. It was an ugly situation and one I hope never happens again. Both teams were to blame for this situation. I noticed shots by both teams during the game. I believe the officials should have stopped it earlier and had a heart to heart with both teams and coaches.

There will be consequences to follow this week (at Harriman anyway, I know this).

I hope the kid from Coalfield is ok. I am sure the coaches from both teams will run their boys until they sweat blood. The game is played with lots of emtion...have to control it or it will burn ya up. Good job to Harriman on the win.

Most importantly, I hope the yahoo running out onto the field is charged with a felony and prosecuted to the max! Going down a very dark path there. Also, that idiot has nothing to do with Harriman at all. He was not a player, a coach or a ref.....and by running out on the field....He is definately not a fan.

I am a Harriman fan or should I say I was. I agree they should had been alot more ejections last night but Harriman did start this and I hope Coach Tapp does sit some of the kids out for the next game. They acted like a bunch of thugs last night and this is not a way to teach these kids the right way to win a game or they right way to live life how are these kids going to make it in the real world if they act like they did last night. Harriman did play well last night they did not need to act the way the did.

Being as all the Coalfield fans are on here bashing Harriman it's time for another BlueDevils fan to step up and defend them. It was a very hard played game by both teams but by no means was Harriman the only one guilty of the fight or bad sportsman like conduct. Both teams was giving 100% plus some. It is funny how when Harriman beats Coalfield all of Coalfields fans are ready to put them down but when Coalfield wins it is because they are the better team and are so tough to beat. I dont agree with them fighting but I understand why it happen and I am sure what ever Coach Tapp does to his team will be what he feels they deserve not what parents and fans on here thinks should be done. However I would also like to try to convince myself Coalfields coach will make sure his team gets punished for their part in it also but being as he himself put it hands on a Harriman player and was not ejected himself I dont see him doing much if anything to his own team. As for knight2 you never was a Harriman fan if the game against Coalfield made you stop being a TRUE HARRIMAN FAN. And the players are not thugs as you so called them. These are a group of a great young men who defend themselves and their teammates as they should. How can you call Harriman players thugs when it took BOTH teams to have a fight. My son plays for Harriman and I know for a fact he is not a thug but at the same time he is gonna stand up and defend his team and his teammates so before u classify these kids as thugs make sure you know them personally becuase they are far from thugs. As for the man who went on the field I dont agree with that either but I am sure he seen something happen during the fight that he felt he needed to be there and no one can say what that was except for him and it isnt for anyone on here to decide what that reason was. BlueDevils keep your head high and your pride in yourselves and your team going dont let so called Fans bring you down becuse your a great group of young men playing the great game of life and football. Congrats on the win and lets keep going.

Was not at the game, but am sure that TSSAA will have a say as to who plays and who doesn't next week as well as Coach Kreis and Coach Tapp. Another issue that has not been addressed is that the refs seemed not to have control of the game. When they let that stuff go early, it will always get out of hand. As bad as the crew was at the Wartburg O.S. game last night, there was never a doubt about who was running the show and the unsportsmanlike stuff was called early and often. As a result, control was maintained. Last year was not the same.

Officials seem to hesitate to call this stuff in close games. As a result, they can get out of control. Was there personal fouls and bench warnings prior to the brawl?? Doesn't sound like there was. It is a shame that a good close hard fought game has to be remembered for such a negative incident.

Let me start off by saying I have family that plays for Harriman I do not post to much about Harriman because I do have family on that team. But last night I was ashamed to admit it because I seen several cheap shot from the Harriman players and that is not called for. The fight they should had been alot more than 2 from Coalfield and only 1 from Harriman ejected. I was hoping just for a great game from 2 very good football teams but that is not what we got. The Refs should had taken control of this game sooner maybe the fight would had not had happen. But I do agree that Harriman did start this and they did not need to because they were out playing Coalfield and still would had won. I hope both coaches sits more kids out next week to show them they can not act the way they did last night.

How can anyone say who started this fight when both teams was taking shots at each other. Coalfield was stomach punching Harriman players all game and Harriman players was giving back as any team would. I agree the Ref's should have taken control when the game first started but they didnt and BOTH teams not just Harriman played on the fact that the Ref's WAS NOT in control. But to sit on here and say Harriman did this Harriman did that and Coalfield did nothing is just plain crap. No matter how long this is discussed it will not change what happen so if your gonna talk about it then be honest about what happen and blame all parties involved not just the team u happen to not like becuase thay beat the mighty Coalfield Yellow Jackets.

It sounds like you need to look at the tape and stand back and look at it as a fan not a parent. Harriman did start this yes BOTH teams fought and both teams should sit out several players for fighting but Harriman did do cheap shot after cheap shot. I was ashamed to have to say my family member is on Harriman I did not see him do anythin wrong but I did not see him the hole time either. The REfs SHOULD BE TO BLAME BECAUSE THEY LET IT GET OUT OF HAND. but you as a parent do not need to think that your son or team is not to blame.

First off unless you where on the field the whole time as a player or a coach or a ref or a chain gang member then how could u see everything. Second I am looking at it as a fan not just a parent. Coalfield was cheap shoting players as well it is not all one sided as you and others on here are trying to make it. I have looked at the tape and it shows one blue jersey with 4 around him b4 the fight started then all of Coalfields side line was on the field and half of Harrimans was still on the side line. IT TAKES 2 TO FIGHT NOT 1 SO COALFIELD IS AS GUILTY AS HARRIMAN IS. Which I have said I do not agree with them fighting but do understand it. And it sounds like your family member who plays for Harriman should be more ashamed of being related to you then you of him. I notice no one cares to make a comment on how the coach from Coalfield grabbed the Harriman player I guess that doesnt matter either huh. AS I already said no matter how much this is fonted about on here or talked about between 2 people no one is gonna agree on what happen but we all need to at least be honest BOTH TEAMS ARE AT FAULT HERE AND RESPONSABLE FOR THE FIGHT. Harriman is not just gonna fight with out good cause. If there is even a thing as good cause for a fight. But by all means Coalfield is not innocent here so stop trying to make it look like some big bullys beat up on some little kids because it wasnt and isnt that way. Further more I do hope the injured palyers from Coalfield are ok and they did not sustain any serious injuries and good luck with the rest of their season.
