Okay ladies and gents, boys and demons, children of all ages, we did this thank you thread last year and many of you opened your hearts to this coaching staff who gives everything to this team. As the Govs continue of bestow the fans of Blount County with the treasure of going into battle gloriously on the evening of Friday the 15th, the DL wants to the fans to throw out their support of this staff.

The DL had a chance to interview some William Blount fans and here are a few snippets....

"Coach Meadows saved my boys life. He was getting into drugs and cheerleading and Coach asked him to come and play football and here we are now. Scholarship talk? That's too early but Coach will do his best, we know that."

"My boy is a freshman at William Blount, and Coach Garner and Whitehead helped my son see himself positively. He really likes football now. Thanks again lads, God Bless and seasons greetings."

"I don't say many good things about people, but these coaches done a good job, them boys is having a good ole time out there and my daughter and I are now back together as a family from watching the govs play on fridays."

Well fans, now it your turn.

*note there is a possibility your quote could show up in the DL's Round three special.

The DL has the DL (and that's down low my friends /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> !!!!

Now this is where we need to Gov Regulars to step in and up to the plate. The DL expects you will do so. Because its not all about predictions on this forum....show a little love! Plus, the DL will feature a few quotes for his 2nd round Special article.

One fan just called the DL's station. She does not use the internet, but wanted me to post this. She says "Last year when we predicted WB would be state bound, people on this message board laughed and mocked us. This year, WE WILL WIN STATE! Them boys have a special protection from God."

Wow, thank you Doris. Thanks a pretty strong feeling. We know many teams here in the southeast are religious so best of luck to those who believe...and don't.

I think the coaches at Wb are a great group of guys. The only ones I have been coached by are Doug Garner and Justin Emert and I love them two to this day. Emert is a class act. He will always have my respect. I just hope the best for the Govs and to remember how long this school has fought to get where they are now. Go Govs and God bless!!

Isn't it amazing how winning can cure some ails. This is the same coaching staff that had to move their team to the visitor sidelines and have their wives escorted to the car by police after games a few years ago. I hate that MEadows left us at JC, but I am happy he is haviing success at WB

Thanks for your well wishes. We're happy to have him here as well.

Go Govs!

As a grad of the second class at WB, I would like to thank the entire Coaching Staff for what they have done with WB. Coach Meadows usually gets all the credit but lets not forget Coach Garner, Emert, and all the others.

I've watched WB closely for the last 4 years or so. I've lived through the 3-7 season, through some games that were heartbreakers, and some that just left me boggled as to how we pulled it out.

This year is different though ... this year, we have heart and believe that we can win. From the very first game, the attitude in south Blount Co. has been different. Our whole community has come alive.

I think of all those little PeeWees and Midgets that are growing up wanting to be a TJ or a Darren or a Tyler or a Grey or a Cole or a Don or any other of the names that get called out every Friday night. We are at the cusp of having a program where the kids stay in the William Blount school district and don't transfer here and yon; instead they will want to play for the mighty Govs. The team with heart and that believes.

Win or lose this Friday ... it doesn't really matter. The boys, no, the Men, have taught us all to have confidence and that is what is important.

Thanks coaches, players, and fans!

And special thanks to the best-looking cheerleaders in the world!

PS: Throw some more mini-footballs toward the 50 yard line fans!

Heres my opinion..

They staff at WB has done a great job. The one's I know personally are men I am glad to have coaching my child.

Coach Meadows has brought stability to a revolving door program. I have great respect for him for being willing to step out of his comfort zone and install the new offense. Coach Meadows came from a wing t philosophy and to be willing to make a change of this magnitude took courage. I'm sure it was as a dramatic change for him as it was the team.

Coach Emert is a coach who coaches at the top of his voice some of the time, but what he teaches is fundamentally sound. His coaching style may offend some people but his players will be better men because of it. His style may cause some to question his care of his players but the players know that he would fight a bear at night with just a stick to protect them. He expects perfection and is willing to work to get it whether its on the practice field or in the weight room. We are lucky to have him.

I got to know coach Garner many years ago when our current players were just kids. He is the same man and coach now as he was then. A great motivator, teacher and coach.

The rest of the staff I know when I see them, but have watched many practices and have been impressed with their coaching skills.

Young coaches Garner and Whitehead have done well with the young players. I think they have a bright future.

I would like to personally thank all the staff for their hard work and dedication. It takes many hours of preparation to do their job. Most fans do not know how much of their personal time goes into preparation for today, tomorrow, next week or even next year. The season we have enjoyed is due to foundation that was built at the end of last season.

Congratulations to the entire WB staff and football team for your accomplishments to date. It has been absolutely the most fun I have ever had covering a football team.

Certainly thanks to the head man, Coach Meadows. As I have told you before you are my hero. Thanks!!!

One coach that has not been mentioned on here by name (or at least I haven't seen it) that deserves a tremendous amount of thanks is the amazing defensive coordinator, Coach Wilhite. 2 years running the Region 2 defensive coach of the year. The amount of energy and knowledge this guy has is unbelievable. The defense certainly has taken on the personality of the coordinator. These guys are dedicated, intense, and play with a passion that is unmatched by any defensive unit that I have seen all year. Coach Wilhite, thank you!!!! You promised me a TV interview in Murfreesborough.

Thank you to all of the coaches for your hard work and dedication. You have put WB on the map. Good luck Friday night against Bearden. This year to date has been a fantastic ride. Thanks
