Kingston Coach, Vic king

Many people have said if it wasn't for Vic King (Head coach of Kingston) that Kingston would have been 9-1. Only losing to Fulton. Lost AC due to bad offensive call, Lost to Catholic spiking the ball with 30 seconds to go on 3rd and 5 WITH A TIMEOUT LEFT, and then driving into the 5 yard like 3 times and turning the ball over cause not kicking field goals when they have a kicker the can easily make it from 40 yards. He was good in the past but should old Vic hang up the headset?

If it wasnt for Vic King Kingston football would not be, KINGSTON FOOTBALL. Sure they didnt make the playoffs but that doesnt mean he isnt a good coach.. He replaced my Papaw, Jim hoot Gibson when he retired at Kingston and was papaws asst. He said Vic is a great coach and is proud thats who they hired for his replacement.. Coach King is a great Teacher, person and coach!

Kingston is one of the best AAA teams in the state even though they didn't make the playoffs. How many AAA teams that are left in the playoffs could stay within eight points of Catholic and two of AE? Not many. I think they are definitely a top 10 AAA team this year.

Granted they let those games slip away and I'm sure Coach King would admit that he could have done a thing or two different if given the chanceto do it over, but you don't get mulligans during a game. To me, Coach King is the reason that they were able to stay within a TD of AE and Catholic. His teams are always ready to play. I also thought they outplayed Fulton for the most part. They actually held the Falcons to seven yards rushing on the night, but Fulton hit five big plays (four offensive for 208 yards and a fumble return for 34 yards) that set up all their points.

i agree with everything posted thus far. Like a lot of region 2 AAA teams Kingston would have easily been the top seed in region 1 or even 3. That said, it is really up to Vic himself. I played against him from 1991-1994 and he was always confident and at times cockey about what his teams were able to accomplish on the field.

If Vic wants to go then he can bow out like a champ. If he gets run out that would be a major mistake by those involved. My gut feeling is we will see him for many years to come.

How long has Vic coached there? 20+ years?

Coach King has definately earned his own way out in Kingston. I do however think he is in his last 5 years as a coach. Then they should call Robbie Collier back from webb to run the asylum. Maybe by then they will have combined Kingston, Harriman and Rockwood into one school so they can show knox and blount counties where the real players and coaches are. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Maybe that's why they started running the Webb like offense?

So what do you think if all the Knox School combined, and all the Blount School combined. That would not be real fair to the Roane Co. schools. Instead how about we just keep it the way it is and not the the game get out of hand. There are some great players in Roane Co. and some great coaches as well. Just like there are in Knox and Blount Counties.

Vic has done a good job with the playes he has. He got his team into the playoffs last year from the toughest AAA region in the state. This particular year there were 5 teams that would have represented region 2-3A well. They usually end up beating up on each other in the playoffs. They would definately be near the top in regions 1 and 3 every year. I think Vic has a few more good years in him.

H3ll no Coach King shouldn't resign. He had a young team that played in several close games and kept them close. He AND his staff are pretty good at getting kids ready to play. His young team and a new offense will be better this next year. A youth and lack of depth puts pressure on a team and when this Kingston Team grows up a little and develops more depth, they will be fine.
