Outsiders have no idea what really goes on inside a program from day to day. Goolsby was not "run off" by the powers that be. He made a decision based on his needs along with that of his family. SCMS is blessed to have Coach A back, another coach not "run off". His decision to leave was his own I can assure you.

Talent levels in middle schools vary so much from year to year no one coach can be blamed or exlated based on thier record. You play with what you got as the saying goes. Coach Gentry worked tirelessly with the Junior High team for three years with an all volunteer staff.

Facts are an important part of anything. Unless you are involved directly with a situation it would be hard to pass judgement on Goolsby, Gentry or anyone else in the SCHS program. He will do his best at MCHS, Gentry will excell as a High School coach and Coach A is home again. It's about the kids anyway.

You are right, from what I have heard, that Coach Ford was forced out. You are not right that Anderson was. He left Smith County for more money. He had the job for as long as he wanted it. I don't know all the details on Coach Ford, but his memory is well respected in this part of the County. I don't know about GordAnsville(that's really how to spell it). I would guess so because the field is named for him. He was a good football coach and more importantly a good person, as is Anderson.

    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
    • Gunner Warren was the second starter, freshman. SP #1 arm impressed me last night.
