riverdale......uve got to be kidding me. mba's first team dominated riverdales first team. mba threw a 50 yard pass on the first play of the scrimmage and never looked back. mba's first team scored 3 tds to riverdales 1. on a brighter side for the "powerhouse" of riverdale, they kept several starters in the scrimmage and happend to score twice on the Big Red's second and third teams

3 way scrimmage on thursday @ martin westview

dyersburg 1 westview 0

henry cnty 1 westivew 0

henry cnty 1 dyersbrug 0

all three teams looked good....henry cnty was the most improved from last year as both dyersburg and westview pretty much dominated the pats at last years scrimmage.....however not this year as the pats return almost everyone......

2a martin westview, 4a dyersburg should have another good year..although it is a reloading year (not rebuilding) for both teams.....

henry cnty has improved a great deal over last year....they should too have a great year...

RHea vs Baylor they did not move the ball they just ran 8 plays a series each from the 30 yd line. Baylor looked impressive. Rhea was not bad either for the first scrimmage. Garmany looked good at qb for Rhea. Rhea and baylor both played a lot of kids.

Sequatchie and Indian, do not worry about the offense. The scrimmage was a controlled scrimmage where the coaches blew quick whistles. The Indians dominated the Irish except for one play, where Bowman jumped offsides and caught a TD pass. The game should have been 3-4 TD's to 0. The defense is extremely quick and the new style will be exciting to watch. John was hurt , he will be cleared this week from a strained back. It was Jesse who took his place, Cain always had been a starter for the defense. Glad to see Indian fans on here. Hope to see you guys at the BBQ dinner this friday after the Coffee County scrimmage.

I wish I new who you were we may have stood next to each other. What do you think of Bowman I think he could be a better DB or a TE if he really hit the weights and the traing table in College. He reminds me of former VOL David Martin who is now a TE in Green Bay.

i posted this in another thread, but i'm moving it here:

are you sure about that mba score? i've been told by several people that mba won that game. that's the problem with scrimmages, everyone has a different story. you don't know who's playing all their guys, who's running all their plays, if their jv teams played, and if so, if that's included in the final score, etc. plus, since there is no official score, it's always slanted towards whomever's reporting it. i'll let you know what i was told by some past and present mba players who were there. they said that mba's first string beat riverdale 19-6, and that after that, riverdale scored a couple on mba's 2's. they said mba was throwing the ball very well and with ease, but that riverdale's running game moved the ball very well on mba's defense. i think that will be the story for the big red this season. they're a little small in the interior, but have good speed and athleticism at the skill spots. i think it'll be a rebuilding year though.

It's good to hear the coaches/refs if there kept the game under control. Too many times in scrimmages it's pretty much anarchy, I won't say the past opponents but you know who I mean. If it cuts down on the offensive production, so be it. Fights and stuff may be exciting to some, but in the long run they don't do anything but build on a thug attitude

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
