I pray that Cary Daniels stays out of it and lets Coach Clark set the schedule. Daniels would have us playing Rye Cove and Haysi.

 

I don't know how we would match up with Rye Cove, I seen them against North. They have some big boys.Allright,even I would have a hard time of down playing our chances in that one.Games like that would take care of our visitor seating problem however.

Waco was saying that in jest, to get a point across, though I do agree with him. On a related note, the new reclassification and playoff system will greatly discourage out of state matchups due to the 'strength of schedule' tie breakers that are used for playoff selection/seeding.

There is one out of state game that I would like to see.I've got a friend that would like to see that one as well,I bet.If we could hold twenty thousand,it would be a sell out, even if we had to {call} it a scrimmage!! How about those Blue Devils.

A.C. Reynolds H.S. in Asheville, NC is normally a 4A (largest classification in NC) power in the Tarheel State and is only about 80 miles from Kingsport.

In past years I think we could of taken Duke. But they gotta' pretty good coach down there now.

I would assume D-B would want to keep Sevier Co, Jeff Co, and OR. That would give them one big out of conference game. But I would not preclude the Indians scheduling other closer teams like M-East, M-West, or

G'ville. Also Halls might be an option. In this, as in a lot of things, the band will probably decide.

 

 

Morristown West could be in play if they are unable to get the games they want. From my understanding, West will be in a conference next with Jefferson County, Sevier County, Seymour, Cocke County, Cherokee and Morristown East. Greeneville is yet to decide whether they will play up because they will surely be placed in 4A, but they could play up to 5A. If they do, they will be in the conference with the rest of these, but I've been told that Greeneville will come off the West schedule if they are not part of the conference due to the wild card playoff deal.

 

Let's say that Greeneville does not play up for this argument. West would have six conference games, and have four non-conference games to play with. Look for West to retain Science Hill on the schedule as it is a near 'done-deal', and they will open with either Fulton or Carter in a doubleheader with Morristown East next season. That leaves two games open, and the Trojans are looking to deal with teams in the upper East Tennessee area. The two most preferred teams for West would be Sullivan South and Tennessee High, but only one is likely (South). That leaves open the possibility of a D-B coming onto the schedule, but it's probably a longshot. That final game for West will likely be a Knoxville-area team (South-Doyle, William Blount, Powell or Halls). Also wouldn't disregard the possibility of playing Carter later in the year if they open with Fulton, and the schedule would flip the next year.

I do think Western NC schools should be considered. The travel to some of them is far less than a trip to Nashville. NET does not seem to have a good connection to those schools. Hopefully, this can be corrected. The new TSSAA reclassifications will challenge a lot of ADs to be more creative in scheduling.

 

BTW, what a shame that North did not have this year's team next year in 2A or 3A With Fulton and Alcoa a little down, what a year it might have been.
