TSSAA released the breakdowns for the classes, but have not announced the new districts and regions yet.

Here is the link to the new classifications:

The breakdown for Division 2 was interesting. Very few teams in AA, several teams in A. Very surprised to see BGA, ECS, Webb, Brent. Acad, Hutchison, Ensworth and others drop down.

  • 2 weeks later...

With these two, we have at least the following changes in A/AA

FRA, DCA, USJ, JCS, Fayette Academy -- all going to D2

Catholic, Station Camp, Portland, Seymour - going to AAA

Looking at who has made it to State the last 2 years (of these teams), you see FRA, USJ, JCS and Catholic. That's 50% of the teams that made it to State. That is a whole new ballgame, with a bunch of new teams making it (or returning) to State.

State still leaves ND, CCS, CAK, CPA among the powers. Who is likely to step into the void created by these departing teams? Madison? Hume-Fogg? Alcoa?

Nice to see that at least FRA, DCA, USJ, JCS, Fayette Academy have the courage to move to D2. Shame on the others for staying to "cherry-pick" in public school classes...... How can they call themselves "powers", when all they do is pick on their weaker brothers?

Hutchison, BGA, Brentwood, and Ensworth decided to stay D2AA and not move down to D2A. In Memphis, the only two teams to shift down related to girls soccer programs was ECS and St Mary's. When they shift down, don't they have to stay at the level for several years before they can move again?

I believe it is a 4-year commitment
