2. Milan 6-0

3. Boyd Buchanan 6-0

4. USJ 5-1

5. Lewis County 6-0

6. Tyner 4-2

7. Camden 5-1

8. Westmoreland 7-0

9. York Institute 5-1

10. Gatlinburg-Pittman 6-1

Maybe a little high on Boyd but they did beat Red Bank and I may eat crow if they get killed this week but I would say South Pittsburgh would defeat all but 1 or 2 teams in 2A and they have already beat Tyner. IMO Tyner would beat anyboby that I have 7-10 and probably 3-5 but they do have two losses. USJ lost but gave Milan a game and therefore bump up my list.

Seriously.

I'd like to know which two sportswriters don't think Alcoa is #1.

Mathew Borenstien from The Jackson Sun voted Milan #1 over Alcoa. He also voted Henry County #1 over Maryville too. As far as the other first place vote for Milan, I am not sure but I would guess that it came from Paul Tinkle up in Martin at WCMT. He loves doing the homer vote.

I'm pretty sure Vic DuRall, Paul's color guy, does the AP voting for WCMT. Vic is a great sportscaster and really keeps up with high school sports in the area. During basketball season, from time to time, he posts his votes here on the site.

I was thinking that he or the Union City Daily Messenger probably voted for Milan.

I'm not sure how a first place vote could go to anyone but Alcoa, but I do respect their opinion.

Read Borenstiens reasoning behind his voting.

The Jackson Sun

I guess he just dosen't take it seriously and therefore, neither should we.

That was actually a pretty good article. Anyone should at least appreciate the guys honesty! None of it matters until the boro anyway...the rest is just talk. Thanks for the link APB. Alcoa is still #1 IMO! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Give Stewart Co. credit. They are a 7-3 or 8-2 team depending on how their game with Huntingdon turns out. This will be their second trip in a row to the TSSAA State Playoffs.

Stewart Co., Richland, & Waverly Central are BY FAR this year's better stories in 2A. All of them are surpassing expectations that were layed on them during the preseason /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Just because they aren't Alcoa doesn't give anyone the right to hate /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Honestly, I can buy Henry Co. over Maryville in 4A before I can Milan over Alcoa in 2A.

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
