Better re-read your schedule. The game is at West. Does that change your winner?

I'm asking for clarification on it, but in the scenario that three teams finsh tied the head to head doesn't apply, just like last year.

As I understand it, if the three teams finish tied for second and the head to head wouldn't work because no team had beaten both the other two, the seed would go to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 4th if necessary tie breaker before it was decided. In that three way scenario no one team could be elimiminated by the total victory tiebreaker. One team has to have a clear tiebreaker over both of the other teams for that tiebreaker to apply.

It's pretty confusing, I admit. The reason it was a simple cut and dried thing last year is because Powell had more overall victories than both Clinton or Central did and that was for the 4th and final playoff spot from the region. It's a bit premature to even look at the 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th tiebreakers right now. There are still two games to be played.

Honestly, this discussion really doesn't need to be happening yet, in my opinion. Anybody looking ahead of this week needs to just slow down. West is a very good football team. They have lost some close games to outstanding football teams. Powell fans just need to take the next two weeks one game at a time, just like the coaches and players are. I promise you they aren't looking ahead at the "what ifs".

I'd love to not have to travel on Nov. 7, either, but that's not something that even needs to be discussed at this point. There are still two really tough games left for the Panthers - both on the road, at that.

I want to apologize for getting ahead of myself. I committed a major mistake by even thinking that far ahead, when this team has a lot to do before the playoffs even begin. That's the kind of thinking that can completely derail a team on a mission, and I hope that the Panthers aren't even thinking about those "what ifs." This week's game will be a good one, and no matter what the outcome is, the Panthers have to keep their level of intensity up for week 10 against Clinton.

Well i guess its time for me to chime in.....Powell has had a good year....but if i remember right everyone was picking clinton last week and west won....this week everyone's picking powell....and watch west will win....west has come together at the right time...other than the maryville game this will be the toughest game west will play this year.

West 28

Powell 17

It seems like in recent games between these 2 teams, the weather always seems to be nasty. I would think that the rain would give an advantage to West. Plus, West's field is absolutely horrible when it rains.

First, I agree that West's field is treacherous in the rain. Second, GREAT win for Powell. I guess the battle for 2nd is reset again this week vs Clinton (maybe I'm wrong)..Should be a great game.

West stopped Powell on the first possession of the 2nd half. Then Francis suffered a concussion and threw a pick. Powell scored twice more and each 2 pt conversion was stopped. West drove with backup QB Taylor Hale to the 11 with 2 minutes left when an arguable fumble call was made. Powell drove dow to the 11 and kicked a field goal with 7 seconds left.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • Great to have Coach Peek back !
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
