The assigning official for BB assigns the officials for Greeneville and all the other teams. No team gets their own officials for games. At the beginning of the year, they send out the officials for the games pryor to Christmas. The book keepers at the HSchools make the checks out based on the list and the principal signs them. This process is repeated again after Christmas. I have signed my share. Simpson seems to call GHS a lot. The last time I thought about it, he had kids who played for Morristown.

Please explain how the officials are assigned. I thought I knew.

From what I've seen, between Ramsey, Neas and Christopher, that is going to come along nicely and soon. One thing I have noticed is that it seems that it is strictly the wings responsibilty to get open on certain plays and Ramsey has to drive to that side and make the pass. This works the first 2 or 3 times but then opponents adjust and even as great a passer as Ramsey is, it's not going to work. At this point, she has several options. Instead of forcing a bad pass, Ramsey needs to either call another play or penetrate the middle and make the defenders fall back to help and THEN get the pass off or take the 15 footer if they give it to her. She wants to run the play to the letter every time but she has got to learn some flexibility. Neas is feisty and makes things happen and has nice touch on her shots. She just needs to keep her head up and see the floor. She misses opportunities while she has her head down barrelling through people. Christopher does a good job taking what the defense gives her and is quite adaptable; however, the timing of her passes are not as accurate as Ramseys. This, I'm sure comes from adrenaline rush and inexperience and hopefully will improve.

The PG position may be a liability right now in the Pre-Season but I'm confident, it will improve. I heard they play Upperman Friday and Cleveland Saturday in the Cleveland Classic. Man, I'd really like to see the Upperman (what a rematch!) game but I'm not passing up a chance to see our FB boys go up against Maryville Friday. GO DEVILS!

what a joke!!! do you even know what your talking about. your greeneville team is average at best. you people need to really open your eyes and wake up. ramsey a great passer; heck she cant even start for any other imac school. like i said average team at BEST.

NICE!!!...REAL CLASSY post there. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Why don't you just go trash a 16-yr. old girl? People with inferiority complexes usually have to down other people to make themselves feel better. You should feel pretty good right about now, little one.

I'll take my "average team" over any of the others because I have watched them for years and know what they are capable of outside of just Dickson. Most people don't and we're counting on that! I'm sure most of the other IMAC teams would like to have Ramsey. Afterall, she was the floor general on the team that won the conference, district and regional championships last year. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen any of the other IMAC teams playing in the State Tournament for at least the last three years...hmmmm...could that have something to do with having a program that is a little above average? Ramsey has more heart than any PG I've seen in recent years and to fight back from her ACL injury and be back to where she is now, shows how much she loves the game.

I know someone as negative as you may have a hard time finding things to be thankful for but Happy Thanksgiving, anyway!

I can't resist giving a few accolades to the lady chiefs today.

Cherokee was destined for a tough year anyway, but right out of the gates they have already experienced adversity. They have had 5 quit and that leaves them with 15 total for varsity and jv. The varsity team is made up of 2 seniors, 3 Juniors, 2 sophomores, and 3 freshmen.

To make matters worse, they lost a Junior starter to a shoulder injury in the first game of the Knox Central tournament this week. Not sure how long she will be out. Today they lost their standout sophomore center (Ryans) to an ankle injury in the first 2 minutes of the game with Science Hill. She left the gym on crutches headed for X-Rays. Early in the second half, they lost another Junior starter for the remainder of the game with an arm injury.

The lady chiefs played the majority of the second half with 4 girls in foul trouble (2 eventually fouled out). They played almost the entire game with 3 freshmen in the lineup.

With all that said, they found a way to beat Science Hill for the first time in many moons.

Don't get me wrong.....it is going to be a long season, but today I saw a gutsy performance from a very young Lady chief squad that deserves some positive feedback....and that's where I step in....

CONGRATULATIONS LADY CHIEfS!

As an outsider and District 1 "homer", I'll offer this opinion. Morristown West looked mediocre for a half against a good Single A Cloudland team, before wearing them down for about a fifteen point win. Yesterday, West destroyed Single A Unaka, but Unaka is in turmoil right now with key injuries and a coaching change. Taylor Hall is the real deal and Goins is explosive. Without Hall, I do not think West could contend for the IMAC title. However, with Hall I like West's chances to unseat the Lady Devils. It sounds like Greeneville is going to have to overcome the coaching antics which may lead to a dramatic meltdown of team morale. I have been critical of the coaching antics in the past and it seems to be getting worse. Kids can only take so much psychological punishment. My money is on the Lady Trojans.

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
