Best Freshman in 2008-2009

We have a nice freshman class at Clarkrange. They are led by Suzanna Cooper, a fast and tall point guard who really sees the floor well. Leah Norris provides size inside and is very agressive. Lacye Lowe (sister of Tori) and Gybrielle Young are going to be great outside shooters. They are both very smart with the ball. And one of my personal favorites, Savannah Smith is a great ball handler and can eat up a press. They are all great players with very bright futures.

 

York Institute bost two of the best freshman in our area, Chelsea Cook, a sharp shooter, and Carly Dickens, an outstanding scorer and defender on the low post. Both will contribute this year at York. York boast a large freshman class with 8 players. Give them a couple of years and they will be a very tough group.

 

Agreed. Both teams will continue their winning ways IMO.

yes, I know they did play for the lady trotters.. But anyone who made that team has to be really good.. Would you not agree. And yes I watched the North and WB game last year. Tyler Powers is also a good ball player. But I know Tatum and Sarah have worked hard and they continue to get better. As for Becca Singleton, she is contributing big to Maryville. Not starting over some Juniors and Senior guards, but she is a "sixth-man" as you might say. I think she will be a good player over her high school career.

I have to say that I also seen a few games last year and I think there were more than just one player from North that was good, I`m not sure on names but she was a great defense player and she really ran the team very well. I hope someone knows who it is!! (curly hair)

Clay County has some very talented freshman they won state back to back in Jr. High.Sydney Roach and Emma Ogeltree are two freshmans that I would put up against anyone. I hope to see alot out of them this year

I was just putting her out there cause she got MVP and was the leader of her team some say. But that whole team was really good. They had some players that were 7 and 6 grade out there.

She did get the MVP but had a bad tournament. Really couldn't get on track. They had a very good team and most of the girls are now in High School. Wiiliam Blount also had a talented team.

Look for her at Webb in Knoxville to add to that program. The LadyTrotter fan listed only Blount County but they also had Christina Slay who was slotted for Seymour last spring (sister to Tennessee standout Ron Slay) and Allison Jones at Morristown West. I will have to go with my unknown friend MOWEST21 and say watch Graves and Ballard, but would add Butler to that list."

 

 

It was my BIG MISTAKE..... because you can't mention this group without having Marjorie Butler name included.

She will have a major impact on things in the DII-AA this year. Slay should also have an impact year.

I'm not sure of where alot of these freshman are so I will start a list of the ones I know:

You also have Emily Williams and Jessa Hunt from the Tn Express that finished t13th and t9th at nationals and also led E.O. Coffman to a 25-0 season last year and a state championship. Williams was state MVP and second all time leading scorer for Coffman.

I agree, Marjorie Butler is a great ball player. Watched several games at Karns during the AAU Fall league and she played very well. Parks from the Lady Panthers is good.

unicoi county has a few good freshmen. rilie king, emmie thompson, and ivory shelton will all have a chance to start this year as freshmen. mikayla bennett and toody tolley will get playing time too. unicoi's middle school team won the eastern state tourney last year. they beat the team that seymour's slay played on during their run to the championship.

Unicoi County had a great middle school team last year. I kept up with the North Middle team that had only been beat once during the year until that game. We had several girls move to the High School ranks that if given the chance will have an impact.

Takeyha (TT) Flowers and Carnation Hart of Lake County! Both played 14u and were eligible to play 12u last summer! May struggle early but look for them to adjust quicklly!

Flowers left the floor rarely and led all scorers at the Dyersburg jamboree vs Dyersburg. She made several freshmen mistakes but looked to be able to compete and contribute at the high level! Hart seemed nervous the 1st time on the floor but after the jitters were gone she contributed well also.
