If you??™re a fan of any Southeastern Conference basketball team other than Vanderbilt, you might want to cast your eyes elsewhere on this page. Go ahead and scan the state wrestling tournament news or spring training, or check to see if Lane Kiffin has stepped on any more toes.

If you choose to read further, be warned: Breakfast might be tougher to swallow after learning more about Commodores signee John Jenkins. He has a knack for leaving opponents feeling queasy.

The 6-foot-5 guard for Gallatin??™s Station Camp High School leads the nation in scoring with 42.8 points per game. He hasn??™t scored fewer than 30 points or made less than 50 percent of his shots from the field in any of his 27 games this season. Tennessee??™s Class AA Mr. Basketball last year, he??™s a finalist for the award again this year.

This kid could be in a phone booth with Shaquille O??™Neal and find a way to get open. His one game of merely 30 points came against East Robertson, which is coached by Station Camp coach Seth Massey??™s brother-in-law.

???John scored all 30 by halftime, and I didn??™t let him play in the second half,??? Massey said. ???It was right before Christmas, and since we were playing against family, I kind of felt like I had to take it easy.

???What makes John so good is he??™s the smartest player on the court. He just knows how to get open and can see things nobody else sees. Every night he does something that makes me say ??

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
