All of these teams have played in at least one state title game, with the exception of Centennial, in the past 7 years.

 

 

Ill take the district with a combined 8 state championships and 7 runner-ups since 1984, District 7-AAA.

Thought this would get interesting in a hurry.

 

Maryville has won a few.

 

Bearden shoulda, coulda, woulda beat Smyrna in the semis last yr, are pretty talented, and have one of the top, legitimate D1 RB in the state for 2011 in Devrin Young. Kid got worn dow as the year went on, but with another year maturity, he will be a "take over" type player next yr.

 

Farragut might just get there this year, and the next. Save the melt down by Courtney vs. the Owls (not saying it wasn't justified) they would be unbeated at this point.

 

William Blount was down this year, but was the last team to really push Mville in their battle in 08. Meadows will be back.

 

Knox West is on the rise. Cummings has done a good job there.

 

Catholic with only 600 or so students might have depth issues. On the other hand, they are starting something like 8-10 sophomores this year, so they should compete.

 

It will be interesting to see where all these wind up at the end of this season, and to take a good look at what they have comming back. Pretty sure all the head coaches are.

well it sure isnt district 6-AAA. it is weak as water. cookeville will dominate in football. white county in basket ball and a toss up between coffee and white county in baseball

I thought tssaa was trying to cut down driving distance.Dickson co. will have to make six trips to clarkville,one trip to henry co,one trip to springfield in all sports but football,you add that up in fuel and that going to be alot of money spent on transportation.Thanks tssaa you really thought this though.

Dickson could have went into District 11 with the Williamson Co. Schools. That would have only left one 6A school in District 10 being Rossview. It would probably have been best for them to go to Williamson Co. would have had better crowds. Clarksville Schools do not travel well at all then as was talked about having to travel to the away game as much as they will then it will cost more.

 

Only good thing for them is that they should make the playoffs every year in 6A. They just have to come in front of Rossview and they are in.

According to a News-Sentinel article Catholic's principal requested that Catholic be placed in District 3 where, on average, the schools have lower enrollment figures. A motion for Catholic to me moved to District 3 was made at the TSSAA meeting, but there was no second to the motion, so it died. Whenever possible, or to as great a degree as possible, I guess they were trying to achieve some semblance of balance between 5A and 6A schools in each district. For Catholic (5A) to have been in District 3, almost certainly Hardin Valley (6A) would have had to go to District 4. That would have only exacerbated the imbalance. As it is District 4 is comprised of three 5A schools and five 6A schools. District 3 consists of six 5A schools and three 6A schools.
