MLREB, here you go again with the 40% rule. I thought it was 30 to 40%. So which is it??? With 90 players on the team that would put around 36 players not from Alcoa on the team. These #'s are fabricated by you. You have no proof of these percentages. You want to say you know because you taught there. Well heck that was in the early 80's. So what makes you an expert in 2009?? HAHAHA!! Like I have stated in an earlier post Alcoa has 3 players that start that did not go to Alcoa Middle School. I believe if you went around the state, that there would be alot of school with that same scenario. Including the mighty red rebels. Friday is getting closer and the rebels seem to be making excuses themselves.

 

 

hmmm....dang this is getting a little difficult...but one more time. Because they went to AMS doesn't mean they live in the city of COA. 40 % my COA friend. sheeeesh.

Greyrider, if Maryville is the best team in 4a the last few years then yes they SHOULD beat the best team in 2a. That only makes sense. As for Alcoa not playing any competition, I say we have been that much better than everyone else. Just like the Rebels have. Have the Rebels not walked through all of their opponents on the east side of the bracket? We can use the same reasoning with the Rebels but its always a Maryville fan stating that Alcoa doesn't play anyone. Some of you can't stand to see us get any credit for anything. This show's me how arrogant you and a few other Maryville fans r. Also Bell County is a good football team and we shredded them last night but I guess we really didn't play anyone. RIGHT!

And what did I say..."not taking anything away from AHS." There was no slight intended and I believed that I qualified my statement , but apparently not. You can call me whatever you want , it really does not matter. I am not originally from Blount Co. so I do not have the connections to some of you other fans that other MHS fans do. To be perfectly honest I really do not care if AHS , WBHS or HHS win or lose a game. I believe MARYVILLE has walked through most teams on both sides of the bracket and we have won some games we shouldn't have on paper including some AHS - MHS games. Get the chip off your shoulder , no one is taking any credit away from ya'll. I do not even think anyone has mentioned BELL CO on here. GO and GET your #6.

This gets so ridiculous, as a person whose blood runs deep in those 13 streets I will tell you that your 40% quote has nothing to do with the football team, especially the impact players and MLREB has still failed to come up with a list of names that would even be close to 40%. BTW recruiting infers that someone (coach, booster, fan, etc.) has made a conscious physical effort to persuade, induce or coerce a player to come and play at Alcoa, if they come, they come on their own desire. Each year most of the team makeup, especially the impact and essential players have played together for years, some since grasshoppers. I don't have to rely on ex-teachers or coaches to inform me I get it from family.

Why is it ridiculous? First, as I stated in several previous replies that I or nobody else is implying that Alcoa is recruiting. Second, I do not mention kids names, ie high school players, in a public forum unless it's simply for praise. Third, it is an advertised fact that in 2008 31% of Alcoa's student make-up were tuition students. Do you really think that the football team roster would not reflect that makeup? Forth, it is common knowledge that there are several kids that attend Alcoa to JUST participate in the football program and that do not live in the city and are tuition students. So do you really think that 40% is an unfair number? I think not. Regardless of the number of students that attend Alcoa it is no way a reflection of the power that Alcoa is in football relative to the size of the school. With that large influx of tuition players that attend just to be a part of the program the size of the school is not relative to the success of the program. Alcoa could be a small school or a large school and it really wouldn't matter. As for difference makers....just like Maryville in the past, and IMO even more so at Alcoa, there have been many "difference makers' at Alcoa that were tuition students and did no live in the city of Alcoa.
