I am kind of interested because of what happened in the D-I finals at 152 lbs last year when Daniel White of the once dominant Overton bobcats defeated the very talented Mikey Fuller of always powerful Soddy Daisy.

 

Who are the best wrestlers that metro nashville public schools have churned out, also the best teams that have come out of metro?

In my opinion, White beat Fuller simply because he was a better raw athlete. Fuller is a far better wrestler but White is just a beast, especially at 152. That's not meant as an insult to either kids respective talents, just my breakdown of that match.

Tony Kennedy Stratford 1977 beat a defending state champion/best wrestler in the finals... named best wrestler and the match with Jeff Howard was best match.

Some of the old McGavock teams (Coached by Scott Brunett) were very strong with David Gonzales, Walter Batey & Stevenson. The best wrestler that Metro Nashville has ever produced would be Adrian Norflett. I have never seen a better high school wrestler from Tennessee when wrestling on their feet. His mat skills were not as strong but on his feet he was simply too quick and athletic for most any high school wrestler. G.P. West had some great wrestlers at Hillwood during the 70's in Brian Dunning, David Scott, Michael Scott, Hunter Bogitsh & Billy Allen.

Yeah i think that is ...prob not on the list of guys mentioned but from what i remember won state with very little technique at all.....

Ronnie "Blue" Stevenson and Kimani Brown of McGavock. Also Marcus Horton of Stratford. Undefeated HWT state champion.

I'd like to add that Kimani Brown also placed 7th at nationals his senior year.
