Unaka Rangers

The Rangers showed some promise this year at times, and at other times not so much. It seems like they could have went out on a better note, but overall I believe the program is headed in the right direction. Any thoughts (and I'm sure some critics too, from what I've read before).

The only direction Unaka is headed in is following the Big Blue Alliance around for many years to come. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I'll throw another in for good measure. I wonder if anyone from Unaka remembers what its like to hold any kind of trophy? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I mean its a shame you have to unlock the case and dust the old gold ball from 2004 to rekindle any kind of memory of a championship. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Remember, I predicted it and it has come to pass. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

unaka has a solid team to build around and the coaches do a good job of getting players to put forth effort. more championship teams will follow. they are hard workers and will be back near the top soon enough. the big blue whatever is going to have some good teams too, but when ned decides to move on things will chang quickly

Unaka has several things to work out and it's going to take them a year or so. Regarding the coaches........ they have a good one up there who's working with the Freshman, but the others ones are a joke, the head coach worries way too much about what he looks like and the other one..... no one likes him or respects him....

Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard Coach Minton had done a great job with the boys he went all the way to Nashville for his job as a guidence counsler and then drove all the way back to make it in time for the game on senior night and you say he just cares about what he looks like????? and the players like Coach Mac there may be some parents whine because god forbid that someone be tough on there kids, go boo hoo to the mirror because whoever you like didnt play enough you, you werent in the locker room dont try to talk about thing you dont know

Unaka will get better you just have to give them time. I could understand if you had a group of kids and coaches who didn't want to get better but in this situation you have coaches who have been there before who work hard at what they do. And you have a group of players that play very hard and will allow themselves a chance to get better and win games.

Give these coaches and players time and be patient.

The coaches are doing a pretty good job and the players have worked hard this year. The caoch that "no one likes or respects" IS the freshman coach. All three coaches dress and act very classy. I am not too sure you even know what you are talking about. Congratulations to Cloudland on a good run the state tourney and good luck in the next game.

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war.We had some quality wins this summer. Beat Huntingdon, Henry County, Bowling Green, Liitle Rock Central as well as a couple other quality Kentucky Teams. Westview's talent pool may not be what it has been without transfers the next few. And as far as Wilkins riding off into the sunset, where do y'all seem to think he will leave?? Wilkins is a healthy dude and he loves basketball and loves coaching. I wouldn't be suprised if he coaches a few more years. He loves the game and loves every minute of coaching.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
