did upperman just not play good tonight or is mc that good cause i thought upperman would win this game honestly

Both teams played well. It was tied after each quarter. Central is way better than they've been given credit for. Upperman simply got tired toward the end due to Central's depth. Central hit their free throws.

I just wanted to say WHAT AN AWESOME GAME (even though I would have loved for our Lady Bees to come

away with the win)!

However, I do want to say that I honestly appreciate the sportsmanship shown by McMinn Central throughout

the entire night......except this one dude who came over in front of our crowd at the end of the game and was

quickly escorted away. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Even after losing, we knew that we had played a GREAT GAME! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Good luck Chargettes of McMinn Central. You will have my support all the way to the championship game next

Saturday!!!

Just hate it for the Lady Bees!!

Thanks again McMinn Central!!! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Finally got some sleep without the phone ringing at 3:00 am /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Last night was one of the best 3 games that Central has been a part of in the last 4 years. And Upperman is the best team that Central has played in the last 3 years. (Hillcrest 2006, first round state is still the best). I'm not sure that either team would have had to much to hang their head about over getting beat, other then hating to be beaten. My idea of what the game would turn out to be went south. First, with an injury in first quarter. Second with the stamina of Upperman's players. Upperman players showed a lot of heart.

I found on a newspaper site that Central is scheduled to play TBA next. Anybody know anything about them? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Yes, but TBA always backs out before the first game is played. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I met the Davis family at Memories before the game. They were a great bunch and very supportive of Lashay and the rest of the players. I hope they enjoyed their brief visit to the Etowah/Englewood area.

What a game! The round house was rocking! Two very talented teams that fought till the very end. I will have to say the sportsmanship and respect on this board is amazing. We knew McMinn Central was tough coming into this and Central fans have given Upperman the credit they deserve. It was tied at the end of all 3 quarters, which is just amazing! It came down to about the last 2 min when Lambert, who is a great player, tied it with the 3. Then with 1:17 on the clock Central was up by 2.It didn??™t come down to one team being more conditioned than the other or ???running??? Upperman down, it came down to last minute fouls that put the score up by 8. I will have to say good job to the girl who sunk all six free throws at the end for Central that had to be a lot of pressure. Anyone who says they knew their team was going to win was lying. This was a game that came down to the wire because it was two great teams playing, plain and simple. I heard the guys behind me for the radio talking about how fast Upperman was and they never expected that, they kept saying it over & over. Then someone said Lashay missed two free throws in a row because she looked weak in the legs, which may have had to do with the reason she was shooting free throws, she was just slammed to the floor. I have played every sport possible and I have never seen a girl with as much endurance as Lashay Davis. She is a Miss Basketball nominee for a reason. That girl could run all night she is a very outstanding player.

92Charger, you said this game wouldn??™t have been as close if Gaby had been in the whole game? That would be like me saying If 3 of the Upperman starters weren??™t fighting this virus bug that closed down Putnam Co. schools Friday that this game would have turned out different, I wouldn??™t even try to say that. I have read a lot about Central and I??™m sure it hurt not having her but that is just crazy to say stuff like that so lets not go there.

This was a game that should have been a state final match up and I hate that their meeting didn??™t happen in the Boro.

Congratulations to the Chargers and good luck down the road. Watch out for LA, they are a better team than their record shows.

Upperman had a great season and so much to be proud of!

I wasn't trying to take anything away from Upperman. If you look at my posts, you'll see that I've given them all the credit in the world. I was very impressed with their team speed and ball handling. I was only trying to make a point that we lost one of our best players with 4 minutes left in the first. She is a huge part of our team. She's an excellent rebounder and one of the best defenders. I'm not saying it would have been a blow out or anything like that. Maybe a differential of 5 more points or so. To say losing her makes no difference would be like us saying that it would mean nothing if you lost Davis. Again, be sure to pass on our thanks and sentiments to your players. I'm sorry if my previous comment sounded cocky or arrogant. It wasn't my intention. I was just trying to express how good a player Jordan is.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
