Here's my Opinion which isn't much when it come to East Tenn. football:

1) Alcoa

2) Milan

3) Polk County

4) Austin-East

5) Camden

6) Elizabethton

7) CAK

8)Gatt-Pitt

9) Mcminn

10) York Institute

As far as the East being better than the West or Middle its slightly historically true. I mean you have major powerhouses of Alcoa and Maryville. Since 1998 up to 2008 the East counting all classifications from A all the way to 5A has 17 State Championships, and the West has 5 to the best of my findings. So I beleive the East has the right to say they have better football, but that DOESN'T MEAN THE WEST CAN'T WIN. This comes from a West Tenn Fan.

All I know is historically speaking The East is best, then the West, and finally the Middle (excluding all the D-II schools).

Austin-East dropped with their third loss......did not see this coming?

Elizabethton drops after their first loss.......I was hoping Elizabethton and CAK where both undefeated coming into there showdown at Elizabethton.....

The point I was trying to make is simply that most people are basing their opinion mostly on 2 teams Alcoa and Maryville. No one will argue those have been the 2 most dominating teams of the last decade in the state. So, I agree that the east has the 2 best teams, but you can't say that your entire region is better. It sounds like you guys are riding Alcoa and Maryville's coat tails.

Look the way I see it is No Matter What each team across the state is going to have to play the team they draw each no matter who it is. If my team Camden Lions drew Alcoa, then I would be there with Black and Gold on just like every game I go to. I would be the loudest one in the stands. I don't base which division is simply on two teams, and I certainly don't say one region is better than another. One example is every year I have to hear that middle Tenn. teams are better than West Tenn. teams, but yet my West Tenn. beat them time and time again.

I think this debate has pretty much run it's course. I certainly respect that each of us has a right to our opinion. No one truly knows how some of the east teams compare to the west teams since we (other than Alcoa) don't really get a chance to play. However, I think we can all agree that there is one fan base that posts on these boards that has more information than the rest of us. They have watched their team play Marion County and CAK, and they have watched their team play Milan and Goodpasture. Say what you will, but several of the Alcoa fans with no dog in the fight have stated their opinion. Since I don't have direct information, I'll defer to them; they've seen these teams in person against their own! However, in deference to my friend from Milan, I will revise my 9-22 poll :( :

1. Alcoa tie

1. Milan tie

3. - 8. Any good West Team

9. A-E

10. Elizabethton

11. CAK

Huf......It's obvious you don't think any other 3A teams besides Alcoa can play with Milan. But, IMO having seen CAK, Marion Co. team from last year......both would have played and would have had a good chance of beating Milan. This year CAK is playing well again. Milan is play well also. Both are undefeated. I think CAK would give Milan a great game.............AND that has NOTHING to do with coming from the same region as Alcoa and/or riding any team coat tails. It DOES come from playing top competition year in and year out and becoming better from it. Heard...........play the best to become the best? Alcoa's success comes from playing a very successful Maryville team each year. And IMO, CAK has stepped up it's game likewise.

Right now................

West: Milan and Camden are the teams to beat. darkhorse: Manassas

Middle: Goodpasture and CPA darkhorse: Pearl Cohn and Elizabethton

East: Alcoa and CAK darkhorse: Austin-East

I sure hate to beat a dead horse, but .........................

You have to say that Knox Fulton played in the 3A championship many times, AE won it in I think 2001, then 2002 Fulton was beat by Ridgeway. 2003 Fulton won it, 2004 Fulton won it, 2005 Livingston Academy won it, 2006 Fulton won it again, 2007 Fulton got beat by David Lipscomb. 2008 Knox Catholic won it. In case you did not know every 3A championship was won by a team from region 2-3A (East) the Knoxville area from 2001-2008, except 2002 & 2007. So I would not just say that Alcoa and Maryville is all the East had. For 3, 4, or even 5 years 3 East teams dominated the football scene in Murfreesboro.
