i'm pretty sure rankin is after the phone call he made to coach pratt at crockett co. otherwise he wouldn't have made the call. :bored:

If you know anything about sports, you always try to get info on future opponents. Coach Rankin would be stupid not to call old friends or get tapes so we could prepare for the big bad Milan Bulldogs! If you want to know how good Alcoa is, look at our schedule, scores, and record(also records of teams we played)...I tried to do the same for Milan, but considering that 2 of the best teams you played all year were single A teams that are no where near the top of the single A state poll AND those were 2 of your closest games...I figured it to be useless! Hence, another reason Coach probably tried to get more info. Surely, you are better than you look on paper against lesser competition. A poster earlier had a good idea: Try and schedule CAK, Loudon, Elizabethton, AE, or even Maryville next year and we will see how you do against good teams. Until then, be happy with your perfect regular season and runner up finish.

The award winning Betsy Band has more State Championships than the Maryville Football team.

Oh........are we going to have fun with this young naive one! :bored:

So........cyclonepiper, You figure Besty will shut down Alcoa's run game? Hold JaRon Toney to less than a 100 yards??? What about Alcoa's FB Tyson........shut him down too? Alcoa is not going to do anything fancy at Besty. Simply line up and run right at you for 4 quarters. Power football. 93 players rotating in and out every play. Depth. Pound the rock football. Does Besty have the depth? Does Besty play lineman both ways? Better hope not................

BETSY is used to playing teams with more players because we played up in classification for years so numbers don't bother BETSY. Even played maryville 2yrs in the late 1990's and they had plenty of players. Our lineman don't play both ways

KY state champs Bell County said the exact same thing BEFORE the game......then said depth was huge factor in their loss AFTER the game..... :bored:

Alcoa held a great CAK to 7 points and Loudon to 3 points. Including 4A state champions Bell County and #1 6A Maryville...............Alcoa is averaging 38 points a game and giving up only 8 points a game.

How does Besty go about stopping Alcoa's running game? Can Besty have sub-stained drives and control the clock?

BCsportsfan i am not worried about any facts about any other team or game . Friday nov 27 is a new game and what happened last week or last month means nothing but i will say this what ever happens this has been a great season for BETSY .

Here are the facts, Alcoa is the better team if you go by record and championships, but tradition and pride Im going call a wash because I dont know that much about Alcoa! Saying that, this is a #1 against a #1 and we are both in the final four which is big for any team. Anyone can be beat on any given day just ask TN HIGH or Maryville. This game has match ups all over the feild and crowds, bands, concession workers or anybody else want make this game its these young men who have fought hard all year with blood, sweat and heart to get this far! I know this is a fan post but we should never tell these kids they cant do anything such as stop the run, your to slow or junk like that because they do read this stuff! These young men on both teams deserve our respect they have earned it! All in all this should be a good game with athletes everywhere! I exspect 1st Quarter jitters and then coaching will take over with 2 good coaches! My prediction is the one with the most points at the end is your next STATE CHAMPION!

P.S.-----Earlier there was talk of Elizabethton fans not filling the stadium,I to am very dissapointed in this community not supporting this team, this is your team representing your city and you all that dont show up will be the first to brag your high school football team are state champions but probably cant name a player! Come to the games and get to know these young men one day they will be our community leaders !

Good luck to both teams!!!!

GO CYCLONES!!!!!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
