Tullahoma is in District 8AAA. Other District teams are Coffee County, Columbia, Franklin County, Lawrence County, Lincoln County and Shelbyville. They have a new head coach this year, Steve Jobe. Coach Jobe is a long-time coach from Mississippi. He coached Faulkner High School, in 1987, to a 30-4 record, winning the state championship. He last coached in 1990 when he retired from the gym. Best of luck to Coach Jobe and the Lady Wildcats!

Coffee Co is not in our District this year. TSSAA moved them to Cookeville District. They will play most of the teams in the district this year according to schedule

Tullahoma and Girls Basketball... Such an interesting fairytale.

Once upon a time, there was a little town named Goldilox Tullahoma. In this town, the girls basketball program couldn't decide what kind of coach the girls wanted (not necessarily what was needed). The first of three coaches in 4 years was a young vibrant lady. She was apparently not agressive enough and was too inexperienced. The second of the three coaches that Goldilox tried was an older much more experienced coach but that coach wanted too much from the program(wanted the girls to work hard, took much interest in the younger players, wanted to run hard practices). He didn't work out and Goldilox moved onto the next one. The last of the three coaches was a gentleman from Mississippi who is brand new. So we dont know how Goldilox will react to this coach.

Now the funny thing is, Goldilox, no matter who has tried to be the coach still loses by the same margins. Still the same players, the same floor, the same uniforms, the same scores and losses. No matter who is coaching, its still the same result.

I would love for this program to do a 180, yet the fear in my heart is that the program is dictating itself instead of having a dictator of the program. There must be a leader. A leader must see themselves as the one to take hold and have the resolve to not be the most losing team in the state in girls basketball.

I really question this Goldilox approach. Anyone can put a uniform on when it's basketball season and say they are on the "team". A true player will play as much as they can, learn from where ever they can, regardless of the season, will be working on fundamentals, drills, shooting, defensive footwork, and practice dribbling with the eyes up to see what possibilities lie ahead of them, on the floor, in the game and in life.

Hopefully, Coach Jobe has a true interest in taking on this difficult challenge and wish him the best of luck.

Even in the fairy tale, Goldilox finally fell asleep in the comfortable bed. Its time for Goldilox to wake up and get a grip on reality. Players need a coach. A Coach needs a team of committed players. So many of us hope that Coach Jobe will be the one that is just right.

Girls basketball is a junkyard dog competition. Nothing comes for free and playing like scared little puppies just aint gonna get it.

tullahoma had a 4 year window to do atleast something but now its year 4 and nothing

the tullahoma administration(landis. mathis and superintendent lawson)does nothing and if they do care they have a funny way of showing it

plus the new coach hasn't coached in 20 years so that should tell you something but the last coach ran all the girls off

FYI kaitlin buchanan was cut off the team in june of 08 now this year she shelbyville's leading scorer

jenna larson quit after her sophomore because coach seals

about 3 other good players were cut off the team by coach seals

katie brock and emma chessor 2 very good juniors never came out for basketball

briana mcdonald left in middle school for shelbyville and is getting playing time has a sophomore

thats 8 kids not playing 5 of which is on the last coach

they'll probably beat warren co and coffee co once and thats it

and the last 3 years the 2 middle schools have not been good and there not good this year either

so 2010-2013 i don't think they will win a game

1. Whoever made the hire had to understand the situation and the results of what was going to happen. They also had to understand in building a program, with the mistakes that had been made, it will take a few years. That is what the administrators are for, to correct them.

2. Also for some years, the word has been out that Tullahoma has been a farm system of Shelbyville. Whether that is right or not is secondary. It is a perception. People can move.

3. If the coach is the right one, and many thought the last one was, as with the last coach this one needs the time to build a program even down thru the middle schools. Sorry, doesn't mean nothing can be done with current situation but longer term is what is the total solution. The question is what is being done along that line or was the last hire made and then everyone took a deep breath. What is the plan and was it communicated? That is the real issue. As with finally the last coach, communication became so bad that finally it wound up on this site. Don't people talk down there.

4. And lastly, this is a mess and embarassing but after all, its just girls basketball.
