My first question would be does Manley have braces? It wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone hit for that with braces and no mouth piece. We had that happen..........kid is still known as Chompers to this day!.....oddly.....he's going to be a dentist!

If he does have braces then he should have been wearing a mouth piece because I believe its a rule that was implemented a few years ago. Could be wrong though.

Was the 45 from Pope the OW? Looks like he just dominated his weight class.

From the TFP:

"Tommy Nickels (125 pounds), Dexter Bushart (130) and Brooks Climmons (145) were Pope's champions. Climmons, a freshman and the only wrestler to win a bout for first place by pin, was selected the tournament's most outstanding wrestler."

Anyone know why Manley got DQ'd in the finals?

How did he get up on the stand a get a medal for 2nd place if he was disqualified.

Same way it happened last year in the state finals to the "headgear grabber." If you're disqualified for four ordinary penalties, that only counts as a lost match (with 2 bonus to the opponent's team, as if by pin); you still get to keep any place you've earned, and to wrestle consolations if appropriate. You only lose those rights if you're DQ'd for flagrant misconduct or for not making weight after the first day.

Unless the rules have changed if a wrestler bites someone it is considered Flagrant Misconduct. All of the points the wrestler earned are eliminated and the wrestler must not compete the next two competition dates. IMO, there was probably confusion between the tournament director and the officials as to how the situation should be handled.

The call was Flagrant Misconduct. Baylor lost all of the team points that Manley had earned in the tournament. He should not have been allowed to stand on the podium and receive the 2nd place award. This was a screw up by McCallie. Rumor has it that he threatened to take a bite out of somebody if he did not receive his award and a chair was thrown on the floor just for good measure. Rumor also has it that The Rock was seen at the tournament. Can we bring The Hulk back?

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
