braveheart
Surprised anyone would take the job at this point without knowing TSSAA punishment. Grace coaches feel punishment will be vacating wins for using ineligible player. Rumor ( but does come from TSSAA source) is punishment will be the worse ever handed out by TSSAA. So maybe something in between. I am surprised, too. I don't know Mercer, but from all I've seen in the Knox News Sentinel and have read on CoachT, he seems like a standup guy. Just thought he would have investigated GCA a little more before accepting a position there. Very corrupt program that hopefully will soon be exposed after the current TSSAA investigation. redandblack63
After years of bad coaching hires by Jon Mller and company he finally got it right and hired a good coach. Now the current administration screws it up by not making it a priority to get their head coach a teaching position in the building. To difficult to teach one place and coach another. As far as the new guy its a no brainer. Mitchell has the most experience, has head coaching experience, by far the most knowledgeable, and also has a State championship ring. If he want it he is the man. Or will the administration find a way to screw this up and destroy all the great work mercer did in his three years. It has been communicated that he is to be the Boys Head B-Ball Coach and Campus Pastor. So while they may not have made a teaching position for him, they did create a new position for him. Seems like the athletic department is getting all the money for staff new hires at Grace (i.e. most recently a new Asst AD position this year, a new Athletic Department Admin position this year, and a new Director of Volleyball Operations position that's already been hired for next year). For goodness sake, it's approximately a 225 student high school! I guess the parents there don't have a problem as to where their tuition money is going??? roundmound
Why would Dre leave? him and coach mitchell get along.. if coach mitchell can not get dre at central.. I dont know who could! STICKS!! Its not any coach that got him there it was 100% Linwood. I personally hope that he doesnt leave but why would he stay if Mitchell got the job he didnt have that good of track record at Carter where he had talent everyone that knows the real coach in that family is his wife. He would still be a good assistant if they hire the right guy.
NoNameD
I have heard that Chris Lindsay, former head coach at West High has applied for the job. I think that he would be the best qualified. He is the most experienced of all of the candidates. He always had very competitive teams and ran a first class program at West. I heard that he retired from coaching to get into administration, but when the opportunity came up to be coach and administrator, he was denied that opportunity. I really can't understand how this has happened. I think that who ever hires Coach Lindsay will get a great coach.
LebronJamesistheman
Chris Lindsay is a great coach, but times have changed and kids do not like some of his methods that worked 10 years ago.. I agree that he is a good coach but this would be the wrong fit! Dre would surely leave if this hired happened... We should find out son who is in the top 5 for this job.
