So kickoff is at 7:30 for sure? Good, I might make kick after all! I thought it was 7. For anyone that knows, how long will it take me to get to Ashland City from Cookeville. Get off at 6, will I make it in time?

If you go by way of helicopter, you'll make it no problem. It'll take about 45 minutes from Carthage exit to Nashville, 30 minutes from Nashville to Ashland City....so if you can make it from Cookeville to Gordonsville in 15 minutes, you'll be fine. :motorbike: Otherwise, you may want to leave work a little early.

Lover of HS football - You better take the bit out and the bridle off - I don't know who will be riding with you butd they will need to take a snort or two. :thumb:

Howdy.......how is the field looking after all the rain??

AND will the stands hold a good size crowd......SC may bring a few.

I dropped by practice this evening and saw the guys get some good work done in some nasty conditions. It has rained like crazy the last 2 evenings and more is expected to come. I stayed around after practice and helped the coaches stripe off the field. It is holding water really well right now and is actually in decent shape. It's really amazing considering that the final 3 contests of 2009 (Camden, Waverly, & Creek Wood) were all played on that same field and all 3 games were played in some absolutely horrible conditions which destroyed the old surface and led to the re-sodding of the new surface earlier this year.

I have seen some very big crowds in past years against the likes of Brentwood Academy, Hendersonville, Smyrna, White House, Greenbrier, Harpeth, & Sycamore and not yet have I seen the seating become a major issue. The stadium behind the home sideline is very big and holds a large capacity. It is unusual for many who have never experienced it because there is nothing but woods behind the visitor sideline and it makes life very lonely for opposing teams. In our own unique way it is what makes Mike Jarreau Field a special place to witness a high school football game.

The last time Smith County played at Mike Jarreau Field was either in 1975 or 1976. CCCHS opened in the fall of 1970 and the current stadium has been what the team has played on since the 1971 season. This season will mark the 40th in which the Cubs have played their home games at Mike Jarreau Field.

I am glad Thursday has finally arrived. Tonight is the OFFICIAL START of the 2010 High School Football Season.
