footballref
Toss up between Maryville and Alcoa. Maryville had the win streak and championships Alcoa has the championships and a good win streak going right now.

TCstinger
Trousdale County from 1990 thru 2010......236 wins and 38 losses. 7 gold balls. TC may not be the best, but they definately should be mentioned in this conversation.
RicFlare
Alcoa, Brentwood Academy, MBA, and Maryville would have to be the top four. I am not trying to just add the most powerful schools, because smaller schools like Trousdale County, Knox Webb, Lipscomb, Milan, Goodpasture, etc have had a good 20 year run. However the top four, especially Alcoa and Maryville have had the best 20 years. Edited October 18, 2010 by RicFlare
Sequatchie
Who do you think has been the best high school program in the last 20 years? Is it Alcoa, Maryville, Oak Ridge, DB, Brentwood? Alcoa, Maryville & South Pittsburg are in the top 5 if not top 3. If you go back to the 90's you then have teams like Marion Co., Cleveland also from East Tennessee. snoball5278
Following a little research, here is what I found. This is NOT an all-inclusive list - just the schools previously named in this thread plus a few I added out of curiosity. It includes the 20 seasons from 1990-2009. BY WINS Riverdale - 232 Trousdale Co. - 228 Maryville - 227 Lipscomb - 220 Milan - 208 Alcoa - 205 Brentwood Academy - 203 Melrose - 195 Oak Ridge - 194 Dobyns-Bennett - 194 MBA - 191 South Pittsburg - 188 Goodpasture - 182 Union City - 181 Cleveland - 173 Huntingdon - 170 Marion Co. - 169 Webb - 145 BY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME APPEARANCES Brentwood Academy - 14 (4 championships, 10 runner-up) Maryville - 11 (8 championships, 3 runner-up) Riverdale - 9 (4 championships, 5 runner-up) MBA - 8 (6 championships, 2 runner-up) Alcoa - 7 (7 championships) Trousdale Co. - 7 (7 championships) Lipscomb - 7 (3 championships, 4 runner-up) Goodpasture - 7 (3 championships, 4 runner-up) Webb - 5 (3 championships, 2 runner-up) Melrose - 5 (2 championships, 3 runner-up) Milan - 5 (2 championships, 3 runner-up) Marion Co. - 4 (4 championships) South Pittsburg - 4 (3 championships, 1 runner-up) Union City - 4 (1 championship, 3 runner-up) Cleveland - 3 (3 championships) Huntingdon - 3 (1 championship, 2 runner-up) Oak Ridge - 2 (1 championship, 1 runner-up) based on these numbers one could reasonably argue that trousdale is the best overall program in tennessee over the last 20 years! while some teams have just as many state titles (alcoa 7), if not more (maryville 8), we have more wins. and while riverdale has more wins (4) we have more state titles. there you have it folks, go ahead and crown'em! it's good to be king! Vandy15
Alcoa, Maryville, of course should be at the top of most lists... David Lipscomb, MBA, BA, Riverdale, Milan, Goodpasture Alcoa, Maryville & South Pittsburg are in the top 5 if not top 3. If you go back to the 90's you then have teams like Marion Co., Cleveland also from East Tennessee.
jrpfhs21
I'll give another vote for Alcoa.
bigearl
If all 20 years are included then I'm not sure that Alcoa or Maryville should be at the top. I think we tend to put them there because they have done so much in the last 10-12 years.
