Congrats Alcoa!

I want to thank all the Alcoa fans that spoke to the CAK players that attended the game tonight.

I was one of those. I meant what I said to the young men I spoke to down near the endzone tonight. I appreciate their effort, their class, and their tallent! I do believe that they should be meeting us in Cookeville next week. By no fault of their own (TSSAA) it could have been a great matchup. I am not taking anything away from next weeks competition, but I have not seen the team we are going to play, but I have seen CAK twice and I am impressed! Great program with great heart! Good luck in the future, just not against us, lol.

THIS is what it's all about! I love living in Blount County and the people here are top notch.

Question: Does anybody know where they refs were from last night? There's a rare quote from Rankin in the papers this morning explaining why he took the starters out so early and left them out. I don't think I've ever heard him say anything like that before.

Read that...I said same thing on Telecast. So must be true huh?? :flower:

My son and several CAK players were there as well sitting right in the middle of the Alcoa bleachers. Everyone was extremely nice and complimentary of the boys and their efforts in the 2 games against Alcoa. Several people asked about #27 and if he was OK, he is, and he was at the game last night. We were all pulling for District 4 and the Tornadoes.

Goddard Field says he would be disappointed in a team that doesn't run through their smoky helmet and taunt before a game. I guess he doesn't like CAK's style then. I want a team thats not intimidated and is ready to play their butts off, but not an "in your face" team. We have great respect for Alcoa and are trying to earn the same.

Scots50 you have my respect.I use to be in the ANG.I went to basic for the guard and when I came back I could not buy a job so with the help of Sgt.Hawn I went active duty Air Force.I was in AGE (Aerospace Ground Equipment) I had 2 years in the Guard and then 4 years active duty. Was the best thing I did for a kid that needed someone to get me straight. If not I surly would have taken the wrong path in life.I knew Col.Akins real well and use to throw hay for him every summer.

Thanks so much. Col Akins is a legend. My father admired him greatly...fair and honest. The AF was the best thing that ever happened to me as well.

I cant believe you all are getting so fired up over a helmet being brought. It may pain me to say this but GoddardField is correct in saying they should bring their helmet if they want to. I have no problem with it, if they want to bring it. bringing your helmet doesnt mean your going to fire the team up and get beat. if we woulda brought the helmet to maryville this year we woulda still won. And if we woulda brought paper instead of a helmet a few years back we would have still got blasted! the game is played on a hundred yard field. thats where it is decided. btw.... EHS facemask looked turrible!

You know, since we are all on the same team...if we put all our individual storms together, we will be 1 great big F-5 on this board. We dont have to all agree over everything that each of us say, but there are tactful ways to post disagreement. In saying that, there are a lot of ways that we, as a group of Tornados can be a lot more "classy" in things we post on this board. There are a few people on here that talk so much trash about the teams that we play, it sounds like we play a "cup cake" schedule. Try giving some props some times to the other teams...maybe we are(and I believe we are) that good! We play some really good teams for the most part, but Alcoa is just in a class of thier own. But when some people down everyone we play, it takes away from our team. See everyone friday in Cookeville!

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
