AAA Tournament

Come on folks... Have we forgotten all the bad blood between Riverdale and Blackman over the past 3 years? Most of the threads discussing the two teams were locked and had to have certain posts removed because the discussions got so ugly. Amazing how Riverdale bringing home the GOLD BALL last year, after all the controversy, managed to silence most of the unneeded remarks. This is called a rivalry! Teams aren't considered to be true rivals, unless both opponents have a good opportunity to win. There is an extremely high level of talent in Rutherford County and that is what makes AAA basketball in middle Tennessee so exciting. Most of the children that have been called out in this thread, were singled out because they are GOOD, not because they are breaking bones during games. It is also a little much to complain about a player being too aggressive in the post when she is 5 feet, 9 inches tall anyways. Personally, I hope Riverdale annihilates all and repeats as state champs. :roflol:

you are right hank the officials at region were so RIVERDALE biased...and they have been all year because they love RIVERDALE SOOOOOOO MUCH...and we are such dirty players its unreal and Barbee is a just an average basketball player

this is what i LOVE ABOUT BEING ON TOP everyone will do or say anything to try and bring you down so keep talking and doing your best and we shall see what happens tonight

Keeper while if we lose on or before saturday it will be very disappointing but it wont be a failure as we did make a state tournament appearance...what i mean by the loss not meaning much...1)we were not eliminated 2)we still hosted a first round region game 3)maybe it was one of those good losses

So if we dont win state I will still proud of the girls and the season they have had but just like everyone but the winning team we will be disappointed but at least we would have been eliminated in the state tournament instead of regions or districts

Yes. The officials are somewhat slanted where Barbee is concerned. And it's not that they are such "dirty players", it's just that they certainly aren't any "cleaner" than anyone else! As for Barbee, she may be a wonderful player and I'm sure she is a very sweet young lady (although I notice you dodged how our players had to be escorted to the bus) but I don't care for her attitude. I overheard her at a summer game, where she was sloughing off while girls that admittedly may not have her skills were breaking their butts to play hard, comment that she wasn't trying because "it's not like it's the state tournament or something." While that may be true, it's not a very nice sentiment to be expressing while others around you are playing as hard as they can. That tainted my opinion of her and I SERIOUSLY hope she chooses a school other than Vanderbilt.

I guess the only difficulty I see with your posts is, if RD wins, then it's as expected it should be and the other teams are simply bit players. But if you lose, then you try to down play the loss, which is fine, but you also try to down play and diminish the accomplishment of the other team. And I find that not an admirable trait.

Honestly, I wish RD the best of luck. Our girls wish them the best of luck also. Win, lose or draw, the Blackman Lady Blaze, to a player, want another shot at them. And that, my friend, is character. I think our girls will work hard to try to hold up their end. I hope RD can do the same.

A Championship Game between RD and Blackman will be entertaining and GREAT for the area basketball and every player on each team.

All hyperbole, complaint and sniping aside, best of luck to both teams. Just recognize that our young ladies are neither afraid nor in awe. And are CERTAINLY not ready to concede anything! As I'm sure is true about the rest of the players and teams.

GO LADY BLAZE!!!

i didnt repond to yall being escorted out of our gym because you are the only person i have heard say that so its whatever

as far as not giving credit after a loss we have only loss 1 time since you have been following us and to be honest that win was bigger for yall than the loss was for us...it put you opposite of lawrence county in region and lets face it that was huge for yall...i never took credit away from blackman you win i tip my cap and we kept on playing unlike 2 years ago when we lost to you in region and our season was over and the team that won state that year we beat by over 20 and of course the week before blackman took us out we beat them by 40 and that is what i mean by it not meaning anything our season wasnt over...

let me ask you this is it true that your coach complain to the officials because we was wearing pink for cancer awareness and made us take them off before the championship game?...that was a great mind game on his part wasnt it...

as i am typing this yall are playing so good luck

I have to get into this conversation since silence at this time is not golden. It doesn't matter which schools in the Boro are playing, the tension is always there. All schools are competitive and if they are not, they will be run off the field, gym, etc. These schools, coaches and players all have a lot of pride in one of the hardest districts to play in in the State. Talent is a great trait in the schools and there can only be one winner no matter the schools. You are right, this is a rivalry. This is 7AAA and if you can get thru the season and the Tournaments, you will play well in the State. Pride is the reason and one might not win every year but the winner will be good enough to play with the best and provide excitement. This year its been Riverdale and Blackman, two deserving schools.

Science Hill played a great game against Clarksville! From what I saw today, nobody will beat Riverdale. I think they will beat Overton by 20+. Memphis Central is going to be a tough match-up for the Lady Toppers with their incredible length and athleticism. The Toppers may have a quickness edge, but it will be hard to tell until they go head to head. I will say Central by 11, but I hope I am wrong.

Went to the AAA games today, and I wasn't impressed by anyone. It was bad basketball. Missed ft, poor shooting, poor shot selection, sloppy ball handling were evident everywhere. The A and AA games were much better to watch.

Riverdale has the most weapons, but 34 did not finish. Could be big..

Science Hill survived Clarksville's mental checkout for 30 minutes...Graves should have taken over especially after SH's center fouled out.

Overton versus Wilson Central was painful.

Memphis Central has great quickness and are tenacious defensively. They should win. Their coaches' T was a joke.

Prediction: Riverdale v Central, repeat for RHS

chunky, the AAA games were exciting to me. Riverdale was fun to watch. That game was close early on and Riverdale pulled away in the second half. I was impressed with Knox West in that first half. The big #20 girl was very impessive for West.

As for Clarksville and Science Hill, Graves never took over until the end. Had she played that way for the whole game, Clarksville wins by 10+. She's a great talent and from what I understand tonight, committed to Tennessee a couple of days ago.

Overton and Central was pretty brutal to watch. The first half was BRUTALLLLLL to watch.... 21-12 at the half. I know Wilson is young, but I expected them to be much better.

Memphis Central is very impressive. Their size and athleticism is crazy. I think they will beat Riverdale in the championship. They lost earlier in the year to them @ Riverdale. I don't think it'll happen in the state championship. Coach Bray has got awesome things going on at Memphis Central!
