What makes one job better then another is usually different in the eyes of different coaches. However, I would say salary alone would make MBA better then all of those jobs listed.

If Gioia makes $450,000 a year as headmaster, you can be sure that the coach is paid well. When Bowers was hired, MBA also paid for his home. No doubt, a cushy job with unbelievable facilities, a large all-boy student body with good athletes and MBA is said to have so much more financial aid money available than the other DII schools (including McCallie). There is no end to the number of student/athletes that they can offer.

However, if it is such a good job, then why are the following coaches all employed elsewhere -Elliott, Bowers, Redman, Caudill, Hiett, Whitfield, Mathews and Rutledge? You might want to look to the top...to Paranoia Gioia. Working for him is apparently no fun. A very little man with a Napoleonic complex who controls and does not tolerate being questioned or challenged. What's so great about that? Have you ever seen him in tight, close games? He starts at the end of the sideline crowd, then works his way down to the center until he is standing by the head coach's side until the end of the game. Again, what's so good about that?

Are you serious? I don't know what is worse, MBA's sins or this list.

I think MBA's sins are objective in that it is now known that MBA cheats. This list is subjective and debatable.

What I find odd is that Ensworth is missing from it. High paying and wide open to go out in about a 50 mile radius and get the players needed. Thats got to be attractive to any coach.

    • Wouldn't the easiest move be to move McCall up to HS Principal and have Gulley take over as MS Principal?
    • Bounder, you are correct. And it is so easy today. As a civilian today, I can check my 6th grade grandson’s grades in real time. 46 years ago as a young head coach, I knew who were my weak students and would do a weekly check. A decade and 1/2 later as an administrator, I would ask guidance for attendance, and grade reports as I did my own discipline reports. 5 years later I could run all those reports in a few minutes. today Text one the Secretaries and they can create a red flag report only printing the names with D’s and F’s or attendance and discipline issues. You are not even dealing with a whole team. The only problem with modern technology is someone who might not want to know.
    • No I didn't,  I just know jellico lost a few and should in playoffs tho....but they have alot coming in the next few yrs
    • The buck stops with the head coach, he should have know if any of his players  were not making the required grades. Either he has someone checking weekly before games and reporting to him or he should do it himself.
    • Freedom Prep has discontinued their football program. These are the teams that were on their schedule in case you are looking for a game:
