A glaring example of how the new system is broke? Bartlett.

http://www.tssaa.org/schdir/regionalstandings.cfm

Finished 4th in the district. (2-3, 5-5)

Did not make the playoffs

Craigmont finished 5th in same district. (1-4, 5-5)

They met last night and Bartlett won.

So Bartlett has a better district record. Won head-to-head.

Craigmont is in. Bartlett is out.

They lose on the 4th tie breaker. 54-52 - opponents wins...

not really................neither should be in the play-offs. The present play-off system is designed for one thing only.............MONEY FOR THE TSSAA. We have a district champ that is a #1 seed in Middle Tn that should not even be in the play-offs. Any 5A or 6A out of Nashville is an absolute joke!!

In 5a it is 6-4 Antioch a #1 seed while 9-1 Gallatin is a #2 seed. Sure Antioch won thier district but the only loss Gallatin had this year was to 6A and district foe Mount Juliet. Seems a bit odd. I came into this area the final year off the old system. Out of couriousity was there this much confusion and aggrivation involved in the old system?

not at all all you had to do was win your region games and the top 4 made it PERIOD it didnt matter who you played out of region so it was already hard for your top tier teams to schedule games it is now even harder for top tier teams to schedule games because overall record comes into play

do top 5 teams made it they played the schools from another region so you knew who you was playing pretty quick and no questions on who made the playoffs you knew

what is so bad opponenets records is that Bartlett could have played a better team in a higher classification that went 7-3 and Craigmont could have played a team in a lower classification that went 9-1 and then there you have different records

No , this new system was supposed to be a giant killer and help break the strangle hold that some of the more dominate teams had / have.
