SweetScience
Have to disagree just a little here. Maryville has about 3 main feeder youth programs. Bears, Rebels, and Raiders. They pick up a few players from the other park and rec teams also. These kids compete with or against some of the best football tallent in all the state in Blount county at an early age which helps alot at the high school level. Some excellent coachs in the youth league. True, that is basically what i was trying to say, just worded a little different haha
RebelWildcat
Oh good! The high school football season is over, so now the imaginary season starts. You guys are all crazy for picking Maryville in any imaginary game. Everybody that knows anything about football, knows that GQ has NEVER won an imaginary game. He is like 0 and 985472 in the imaginary league.

davidlimbaugh
Comparing Ensworth to Maryville is like comparing apples to oranges. See 1.2 million posts over the years here about public vs. private. Ensworth has players on their roster from the four corners of middle Tennessee or even farther away? No rule against out-of-state tuition. When Brentwood Academy beat Riverdale in the championship game one year with an All-Rutherford County backfield that was the final straw. Indiana is having this issue now. High school football notebook: Succeed and change class? For the Ensworths and MBAs of the world it is a no-win situation. If they win it is because they recruited better players. If they lose then that just proves recruiting the best players doesn't do any good. baylorbigdog1976
Ensworth does not have players from all over Tennesse. It's not a boarding school and 90 percent of the kids are within a 20 min drive of the school...corn is from Murfreesboro. If you know the school and the facilities almost any kid in his right mind would go given the opportunity. Many of the best athletes in nashville and their parents want their kids to go to private school in Nashville if they can. Many of the older tn titans who stay here send Their kids to one of the private schools. I have seem a dozen ex NFL players at BA and ensworth games as well as current players too. They don't need to go out and recruit. It's not that the public schools are bad here but they no longer really neighborhood schools like you have in Maryville , where kids grow up together . I wish

In my opinion, anyone who proclaims that they "know" who would win a game like this doesn't know a whole lot about football. This is especially true of those that predict a "curb stomp" or some such for either squad. Congrats to both of these excellent teams and thanks to the young men who represented both schools in such fine fashion.

bud
I Live in Nashville. I have seen Ensworth and Maryville in games this year and many times prior. Maryville is a 7 point favorite this year. Sounds like this game almost happened if Ensworth had played in the classic. That would be fun. Regardless, Baylor stomped Ensworth, Ensworth stomped Baylor. Maryville still has the better coaching, why? Because Maryville does not make a Baylor mistake like Ensworth did and Maryville would never lose by such a large margin. Ensworth had a meltdown when things got tough, it would happen all over again versus Maryville. Bet the house on it.

Sparta4455
I dont agree with this. I play at Webb and we played both Ensworth and Maryville this year. I know its only one game but in my opinion Ensworth would beat Maryville if both played the way they did against us. They are both excellent teams and it would be a good game but I do believe Ensworth would win. I dont think we could have played any worse than the first quarter against Maryville, but at half the score was 14-0. We fumbled on the first series and Maryville scored and then scored again in the first quarter. Ensworth was up 27-0 at half and should have been up 34-0. We were on the sidelines thinking they would score 70 points. I do think Maryville has the better quartback even though the Ensworth quarterback had a better game against us. Ensworth was just a disciplined as Maryville and has more speed, size, better receivers and two running backs that are the best I have ever played against.
