The ballot is in my hand and is due by Monday, Feb 6th. Many media members will read your comments and positive comments are much more effective than negative ones. Tell us who TO vote for. Thanks

"The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards will be presented to the top girls and boys in five classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association at the state basketball championships in March.

This group is to include three finalists for Miss Basketball and three for Mr. Basketball in each classification. The winners of the coveted award are to receive the distinguished Mr. and Miss Basketball trophy with the other finalists being presented plaques.

The awards will be presented for each classification prior to the championship game awards presentation for each class, respectively. The presentation of the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards for Division II will be given on Saturday, March 3 at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville.

The presentation of the Miss Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A, AA, and AAA will be given during each championship awards ceremony for each class on Saturday, March 10 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

The presentation of the Mr. Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A, AA, and AAA will be given during each championship awards ceremony for each class on Saturday, March 17 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

Any player at any of our member schools is eligible to receive votes, and I would encourage you to take a moment and give careful consideration to any player with whom you are familiar and who you think deserving of the Mr. or Miss Basketball Award.

These votes are a nominating process only. A selection committee that will include representatives from each area of the state will meet to vote on the finalists and winner of the Mr. and Miss Basketball Award for each classification. You may submit the names of up to three players in each classification for the awards."

Hubbs from DC needs to be in the discussion. Poythress will see a lot of support. I do not think he plays the competion level as the Memphis area teams

Poythress is the best player in the state! Period, end of discussion! Clarksville has good basketball! And if you dont believe that, believe this: Poythress was one of the top 3 players at the LeBron James Skills Camp last summer, which is a collection of the best players from around the COUNTRY! Not to mention that he dominated the EYBL this summer too. Hubbs is a nice kid but he isnt close to Poythress's level.

Alex is a stud, no doubt. Best player in the state? Some would question that. Too bad it will not translate into a state title.

Both players are excellent players but to say that Hubbs is not on the same level as Poythress is not accurate at all. Hubbs by rivals accounts is one of if not the fastest rising prospect in the country. He hasn' t had as much hype around him since DC is in rural West Tennessee and the 2013 crop in Memphis is so strong. Fact of the matter is that a player from DC will never win Mr. Basketball because of simple geographics.

This one will come down to Poythress winning and runner up being Hubbs. Jack Montague gets my vote for the 3rd entry. He is a fantastic point guard with the enviable ability to quarterback a game. He is a true leader with amazing skills. Such a shame that he is in such a tough division with Poythress and Hubbs - otherwise he would be a shoe-in for this award. Best of luck to Jack as he heads to Yale!

Hubbs is a good player! I am not trying to slight him. I have seen him play probably 20 times. He will absolutely play at the next level and excel. Poythress is an elite, one and done type player. He is a pro! There is a huge difference in the talent level there. Hubbs is a nice player but Poythress is a freak! Thats all I am saying.
