Just curious what UNA stands for, I honestly tried to think of which school it is, but am just coming up empty.....lol

University of North Alabama in Florence, AL. They were coached by Terry Bowden but I don't think that he is there now. I had heard that Bobby Bowden would send him players that couldn't make it at FSU. UNA had several championship seasons before Bowden.

Bowden did leave this year and UNA got Coach Bobby Wallace back whom was the coach there when they had the purple swarm defense and won 3 consecutive national championships.

Bobby Wallace came back to UNA. Bowden had 34 D1 transfers on his roster this past year. Bet old Bobby does the same thing. Transfer U is what they call it...how do you think Bobby won all those games, then he goes to some school up north and cant win and comes marching back home again. I hear they are going to try and go D1 and join the Southern conference with Samford.

Thats cool, any word on if he is going to play QB, good thing is that he is capable of playing several positions so he should fine his way on the field regardless.....

Bowden really got some stand-up D1 transfers. <_<

I had a class with a 26 year-old sophomore defensive end last year. Dumb as a rock. He got the guys that couldn't cut it at D1.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
