haderade
Of course, the kid from SC may have a "full ride" if you combine academic and baseball money. Wouldn't he have signed by now??
haebvols
MJ 10 - 0 in district play it's an even year, can someone explain to me how the district tourney is going to play out? As I understand it... MJ host vs. Portland and Beech vs. WC... Gallatin host vs. Lebanon and SC vs. H'ville. Should be interesting.

Too bad for Beech after losing to H'ville, players got to play on Tues., yet should have served another week suspension due to county rule. Amazing, they'll be back to full strength for district. What a break to slip thru that crack in red tape.

However, if Beech can't beat a very mediocre HHS (even when they are full strength) then they don't deserve to host.
REDSMAN
Wouldn't he have signed by now?? Haderade, I have no idea about which particular SC kid you are talking about...all I know is the interest that Cumberland has in the C, SS, and CF. All 3 or none may have offers, only Woody Hunt could answer that. Maybe they kids have other offers they are considering? Maybe none of them want to go to CU? I believe the catcher is really nice prospect, and the most ready for a mid-major d1 program if he gets the opportunity. If I were any of the players I have seen from MJ, SC, BHS, GHS, I would go the JUCO route to play early AND get the core academics out of the way.... Just my opinion
sportsobserver
Agreed. However, if Beech can't beat a very mediocre HHS (even when they are full strength) then they don't deserve to host. Yes, Beech had a chance to control their own fate and missed an opportunity to seize the moment. I suppose what bothers me the most, however, is the lack of ethics, character, or whatever you want to call it from HHS. What are they teaching when the rules get broken, then "unknowingly" bend them to meet their own needs/intersts with no repurcussions? They got what they wanted, a split with Beech which knocks Beech out of first and sending them over to the MJ bracket and HHS gets a third place finish which puts them in the Gallatin bracket. Kudos to the coach, AD and administration for playing the cards to their favor. Just an opinion from my observation.

Maybe Beech should have "misinterpreted" the rules in dealing with their best pitcher.

Just my opinion JUCO is the best way to go for a lot of these players. Play early, get core school work out if the way and show the larger schools that you can play. FightinIllini
MJ over Tullahoma 6-3... not as close as the score indicates. Sheffield..... throws hard, but was all over the place.... not what I expected, with all the hype I thought I was going to see another Sonny Gray.... not the case. haderade
REDSMAN what about Vaughn Lacey and Browner from SC any news on where they can go? Browner is a jr., Vaughn doesn't have the grades & Lacey is still on the market. Speaking of which, heard third person from local college asst. that Haeberle is going to Trevecca. Talked with his father last week and they've had no contact from TNU, much less a committment. Wish these guys would get facts straight, because rumors like that could hurt a kids chances to still be looked at. Good luck to all the 9AAA players, lots of talent out there.
