Summertown v Clay County

Franklin is the best player for Summertown right now. Without her 20 something yesterday(combined with Lake County's missed free throws), they lose by 15-20 and go home. She will need a lot of shots and huge numbers today in order for them to win. According to the paper, she is the teams leading scorer at around 12 per game, which is not a lot.

Clay Co is nowhere near the caliber of team they played yesterday-just saying....Just think, Claire had a cuncussion midseason from a car accident....and without her we beat Loretto by 15 in their house

Without Roach playing "superhuman" ball yesterday the same arguement could be made for Clay Co. too. S'town sent the most talented team in 1A home because they never showed any fear of losing, when the chips were down they did whatever they had to do to win and that should worry their opposition. The last line of your post contradicts the point that they can't win without a big game from Franklin...12 ppg is a nice average but they obviously can win in other ways than her "going off" for 25-30 points.I thought that Cloudland was far better than the cupcake some people thought they were, and was impressed with C.C. for the way that they played, but the 'Landers also missed many shots they usualy make((2-5 footers)around the basket. In short Summertown beat a better team than Clay Co.did(IMO),with each team having a huge effort from one player, just that I see S'town winning if Franklin scores 10...don't see Clay Co. winning if Roach doesen't come up big again.

No, they sent the 2nd most talented team in 1A home because Flowers took herself out of the game. Otherwise, LC wins by 20. S'town is good and Franklin made some huge shots, but Flowers dominated that game and Roach is every bit that good of a player.

Newsflash!!! If Roach can score against Jackson County she can score against Summertown. This will be a good game i promise you that!

lets not start with the ifs and buts ok? You were beaten by Loretto last week, plain and simple. Summertown is a good team we all can see that. You keep saying all these things but the bottom line is they have to prove it when it counts :popcorneater:

Second best,maybe I'll buy into,second most talented...no way.

So far, Summertown seems to be "destiny's darling". They also have a very good team. They have a good chance of winning their first gold ball. But NO ONE is a lock from here on out. One weak quarter of play can cost you when in a one-and-done tournament against a good team. Get overzealous if you are prepared for the postmortem on your team.

The last 2 games Summertown and Loretto have played have been decided by a total of 7 points combined, Stown one by a point and lost by 6 points. The 2 games Jackson County and Lorretto have played JC has dismantled Loretto both times. I was looking at Summertown's schedule, and it is a very very weak schedule. Lawrence County is a good AAA team, but it is the only good team you all have played this year. Loretto and Moore County was the best teams Summertown had played besides Lawrence County. We seen what happened to Loretto last night, and Moore County was way overrated. I would love to see Summertown play Jackson County, Clarkrange, Clay County, Upperman, and Livingston twice a year and I would love to see Summertown then go 30-3. Most of the time when you see the region winner from 4a, whoever it is, playing in the state tournament with 30 wins then most of the time they're bringing home some gold or silver because they've earned that good of a record.

They won't do that Swanson because then that 34-2 record would be more like 22-14 :popcorneater:

Just by looking at what's been said LC shot themselves in the foot more so than Summertown beating them. It seems every year we hear a lot of hype coming out of Lake County, and then come state tournament time they get sent home in the first round. I don't think Clay County is as good as Lake County, but they are better than Loretto. You will not see the same mistakes from Clay County that you seen from Lake County. You hear a lot of talk about how well Jackson County is coached, but Simms is no slouch and will have Clay ready. :thumb:

This kind of talk is what makes people shake their heads. Lc played bad, stown played above their level, jc is the best before they step on the court, etc, etc, etc. All I can say as a loyal high school sports fan, because high school sports is when the passion is still there for these young adults, is that this is why they play the games. you can say all you want about this topic, but the best team is the one standing when everyone else has fallen. If this is the way we look at it then the giants didn't win the superbowl, but the patriots lost it, etc. You are the best when you take home the trophy, because a true champion finds a way to win regardless of how everything goes. So with that said, may the best team win.

    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
    • Trez's last scandal has died down, so I guess this is there opportunity to be the best 4A team playing in 2A a la Sissy MTN.  At least they won't be in a Z-district with 1a teams in the regular season.
    • Facts...until someone takes down the Rebels they should be the favorite. Got loads of young guys salivating at the opportunity to prove themselves and get a 3peat! Blazer how is Region 1 looking this year?
