Well Alcoa's one touchdown win over Webb was nothing to write home about either.

To be totally honest, the more you post about Alcoa, the less I think of your poll input. If you can't get that right, how in the world are you getting anything else right???? Just take Alcoa out of your poll and put someone else in their spot.

Alcoa rolls all the way to Gold in 3A this year!cool.png

I'm a Milan homer but after watching the Maryville/Alcoa game I can't see anybody in 3A beating the Tornadoes this year. The only weakness I sasw was depth and if they can push/handle Maryville for 3 3/4 quarters there isn't anybody in 3A that can handle them. They would totally dominate with the ability to control the clock. Opponent will have to score every drive and CAK is the best bet to give them a push.

Lol...coaches poll has no credability! There is not a team in 3a outside of CAK that would be within 2 td's of alcoa this year! Anybody that thinks Maryville is a 3 td better team...or a better team in general is sadly mistaken! Until that fiasco on the kickoff wth 4 mins to play...alcoa would have drove the field and won 31-28. Webb should average 30 a game the rest of the season...even with a game vs ensworth. For a 3a school, alcoa has probably played the toughest schedule in the state, regardless of class, so far! There is a huge gap between alcoa/cak and #3 in 3a! Thats no disrespect...just the truth this year.

How in the world do you rank Fairview above the Cubs? That makes no sense. Even if he still believes Fairview is better, cheatham won the game! Lol that's insane

Tom Kreager has never given the Cubs any love. If you look at Murphy Fair's Top 5 this week he has the Cubs ranked #4 in 3A. The Cubs are going to keep on playing and the bandwagon will probably keep on growing. I just hope everyone believes that the Cubs aren't "that good". Jacketman has been very complimentary of the Cubs the last few weeks but prior to the Fairview game some of the score predictions were ridiculous. I don't think that even Fairview's supporters thought the Cubs would be a "challenge" in the opener.

As far as Alcoa goes I agree. Their schedule is brutal. When you play Maryville, Knoxville Webb, Greeneville, Austin-East, and CAK (and scrimmage the likes of Powell, Farragut, and Oak Ridge during fall camp) you are preparing yourself for anything/everything. I agree with Deion's post that Alcoa would have had an excellent opportunity to drive the distance of the field and win 31-28 (as was the case in the 2010 game).

I believe we will learn about some other "heavy hitters" as the season progresses. Fairview still plays Lewis County, Giles County, Marshall County, and a very improved Hickman County team. Milan will play a tough district slate. Camden's next 3 games are against Westview, Cheatham, and Huntingdon. CAK still plays Grace, LaVergne (larger school), and Alcoa.

It's a long football season and already there appear to be some teams that are inching their way towards the top of the hill which is big for earning homefield advantage in the Quads come playoff time.

Check my pregame comments. I was the guy trying to keep our fans grounded. Knew we were in for a battle.

I guess we could just go ahead and give Alcoa the Gold Ball, but they might just fumble it away.

The newest AP poll as of a few hours ago.

Class 3A

Record Pts Prv

1. CAK (15) 2-0 185 -

2. Alcoa (3) 1-1 171 -

3. Milan 2-0 140 -

4. CPA 2-0 115 -

5. Sullivan North (1) 2-0 88 -

6. Fairview 1-1 61 -

7. Smith County 2-0 58 -

8. Camden 2-0 51 -

9. Lewis County 2-0 30 -

10. Cheatham County 2-0 22 -

Others receiving 12 or more points: 11, Tyner Academy 20. 12, Goodpasture 19. 13, Elizabethton 14.

I too have a big problem with Fairview being ahead of Cheatham. I have always thought that to be the man you have to beat the man. And Cheatham did just that. It apparently was a great game and both teams are not far apart.

Also, I don't know that Milan should be #3 yet. They have a great team with several key players returning from last years runner-up team. But they got to caught up in reading their own press clippings against Trenton. Yes, Trenton is much improved and their new head coach is great. Trenton will see several rounds of action in the 2A playoffs, but Milan should not have struggled in that game. 5 turnovers really hurt us and they need to get their heads in gear and play up to their ability. I think we saw the start of that last week versus Humboldt. We just need to keep it going. Until then, Milan is probably not #3.

Lewis County is all Juniors besides 5 players.. Those seniors don't even go both ways besides 3 of them. Lewis could make some noise this year. Maybe not state but their potential could be 3rd round maybe. Depends. We play Fairview this week and what i've heard is that this is the 3A game of the week? I'm not real sure if that is true but it's gotta be top 3. It should be a good game!

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
