I do this take seriously or I would not be trying so hard. I am sure you are a decent teacher, but not as good as someone like myself. A decorated Marine with a an education degree is tens time better a teacher and role model, but there again you wouldn't know that because you probably never served and are probably too scared to walk in my shoes anyway. You go on and keep pumping yourself up that way when you look yourself in the mirror each morning, you can convince yourself you have made a difference. Pretty sure your school that you work in is not that great a school or you would have it listed on your profile. Again it is people like you that keep TN down at the bottom in education. The state has people like me that want to come in and help clean up the mess people like you have made yet they continue to turn the other way. LMAO at you!

Big Chief, I am not arrogant, it is called confidence in my credentials and skills. If that scares anyone, I am sorry about that. WCP was not trying to help, only trying to tell me I was not qualified. I won't just stand by and let someone talk about me or try and bring me down. If people were trying to help they would be offering me interviews and a job. I guess the real world really doesn't understand Marines nor military in general. Thanks again for your attempt to help me.

I am currently on a transitional license. It always helps to start in very small towns. If you are currently renting, NW Tennessee has a nice mix of jobs available. I would say history and PE are out because of the amount of coaches that hold those positions. The ticket is special education. In order to have a T license you have to be highly qualified in the area you are going to teach. I took the middle school content knowledge and know I am highly qualified in Middle school grades. I teach/coach at a high school but also work with Middle School students to keep the T license going forward. Small schools and special education will get you a job. You also have to take 2 graduate classes during your 1st year on the T license. I think you have to pass your praxis test to get a good look. I was a student and had no money and had to take 5. I was getting married at the time, going on a mission trip, and my brother (best man) died in the Air Force. I'm not comparing stories just relating. The T license is tough but you can do it man. If you have any questions shoot away and I will try and help the best I can.

I know you might hate this idea but it could be your last plan of action. You could go back to college to finish your student teaching and borrow enough money to get you through. I had to borrow more than I wanted but it is what I HAD to do. My mom was a teacher and my dad worked in a factory so we didn't have a lot of money for school. So good luck and Gold bless you.

Byfaith, thank you so much. You are the first person that has had some real advice and could somewhat relate to my situation. I am looking into the whole student teaching thing now and I am already in school online working on a Masters of Sports Science degree in Sports Coaching/ Sports Management. Really thinking about moving in another direction before I get too far gone in that but it seems right. I will keep in mind exactly what you said and I would love to stay in contact and get some mentoring with this. maybe we could swap contact information and talk occasionally as I am trying very hard to navigate this mess. I have been told that it easier to get employment in Georgia or Alabama as they are more accepting of Transitional License people. I just don't want to have to leave my home state as my daughter is here and I have joint custody of her. She depends on me so much and wants her dad at every event. Thank you for making sense when no one else has.

this topic is going down hill quick... Military doesn't trump a full teaching certificate... just sit down and study and pass the test... plain and simple!!!! Also PE is the most competitive spot for coaches it usually can take years for an OC or DC to get a PE class, and when one comes open in the school there is already a coach within the system who already has a foot in the door for it. Look into getting Personal Finance certification or getting special ED or geography or economics or marketing or taking over an ROTC program or something like that. Goodluck

You will have to pass the test eventually to keep any job that you get. If you have already failed the test and haven’t retaken it then the message will be sent that you may not be able to pass the test and the hire will be short term if hired. Pass the test and you will get a job.
