Now Croz Old Pirate says you GV folkes have most likely had the best 7 years of talent ever annd have yet to make it to the title game! OP says the Pirates have been consistantly strong but to attack coach Vic is not fair. When GV has a run like the Pirates have and do better then feel free to make comments......

Our best 7 years were in the 80's. Runnerups, champs, quarters and semi's in the three class system. Wasn't attacking Vic. It was just my observation who alot of people I talk to from various areas agree with.

Besides, if I was attacking him, what's the difference with what you guys have said about Coen, Marshall in the past, and our fans. Like SP was completely innocent the whole time. Whatever.

I stand by what I said. No team except for Alcoa in the bottom 3 classes has as much talent year in and year out like SP.

Stone, Hale, Johnson, Lankford, Mitchell, Jones, and possibly Fitzgerald would be the top playmaker on 90% of 1A teams.

All things considered, I think Vic underachieves. That's all I said. I've heard you and others from SP say worse about other coaches.

"Hey Kettle," "yes, Pot?' "You're black."

Pert near do wonder about a heep of you trolling type.....always commenting bout other folkes but ain't ritely good much to say about your own.....figure ain't much to talk about up thata way!

Mancoverage sez; Not much this year. But, that's the difference in up here and down there. When folks talk up here, it's worthwhile to listen too. Folks down there talk all the time and every once in a while something comes of it. Quality over quantity as far as the Gum bumping goes. Seems there wasn't much worth talking about down thata way either. :popcorneater:

Croz, the point Old Pirate was making is the coach gets too much credit & too much blame for wins & loses. Jest feel the real blame is a team.... issue and not one coach or player. Now individual behavior as the Coen youngun displayed, he is accountable for his behavior and leaving it as acceptable behavior is wrong! If individuals don't like being criticized for classless acts...don't do them-simple fix.If coach Vic acted like Marshall did a couple years ago, OP would not....condone it from him either. OP is one that would encourage a coach to send players packing....Classless acts by players or coaches reflects on team, school and community and that is not fair either but non the less is how many view it. BTW, 4 of those are seniors leaving the depth in question for the Pirates in 2013. Edited by OLD PIRATE

I agree the coach does get too much credit and blame. I'm not condoning bad behavior. I just didn't see it. Much like I was in the dark about the confrontations others talked about on here, but I'm faily certain that the Gville fans shouldn't tote all the blame.

But, these are kids that more than likely don't need their name drug through the mud on the internet. Like I said, one of SP's players took a swing at our LB in front of the ref. No call, but we saw it. And, only one Gville fan mentioned it, and only in retaliation to what was said about Coen.

Gville players showed their hindends last year, and I was one of the first to express disapproval. I thought it wa sa clean game this year, except for the instance I saw.

Like I also said earlier, If Grider runs the Spread, I think we lose that ballgame.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
