Croz, im still trying to figure out if that Marshall man has my book or if pegleg and powerp stole it. If that Marshall man has it, do you think he would drop it off in Kimball when those Gordonsville boys travel to Greenback next week in the 4th round? I could meet his bus right there at Krystal just off the interstate. I dont even need my book to no that Marshall man will beat those Eagleville boys real bad. You think im joking but im not.

Dang....will someone please........................ find that book or else tell Roy it was flushed........ Roy will need another one so if someone has an xtra please.......leave it @ the Krystall & post on coacht !

Here's food for thought.

I believe SP had a better chance of winning if they ran the Spread. Stone would be able to more and it would've been easier to get there athletes in space.

Personally, when I watched SP play earlier in the year, I felt better when I saw them in the Wing-T.

Old Pirate liked the spread too & Stone could have been very effective running it "IF" SP had more receivers. OP thought the Fitzgerald youngun could have been a play maker @ receiver this year but only played sparingly. BTW.... Old Pirate says it was good to see the best players involved more last week on both sides of the ball. Edited by OLD PIRATE

SP has been the odds on favorite to win it all the last 6 years and have won it twice. I think this years team was close to 2010 just not as good on defense. 08,09,11 were all stronger in my opinion than 10 and lost. We aren't the Buffalo Bills but we aren't the Bulls either. I do not think we will ever see 7 years of talent like the last 6 plus next years team. MC will be improved next year but they are delusional if they think SP wont be overall stronger than this year. I'm not sure about the little league stuff. I hear great things but that's always been the case. Getting them to stay in school and stay together is the hard part. As for this past weekends game.......Gotta respect or when a coach always goes for the win....Unfortunate that it never works for SP

The Goat sez; South Pitt is more Bills than Bulls. Edited by mancoverage

If this is the best 7 years of talent that SP has ever had, then they greatly underachieved big time.

SP fans are used to it, but there's not a 1A, 2A, or 3A school in the state that has the talent consistently that SP has, except for Alcoa.

I think Grider consistently does less with more. How many teams have a Mr. Football candidate just about every year?

The Goat sez; Be careful Croz, Roy got banned from Pep-rally's because he called Grider Lazy. You won't be allowed in Chattanooga if you keep talking like that.

Most I have spoken with feel that way. It could always be worse but def could've been better. Bad luck? Uncoachable kids? Who knows....2004 &2005 teams would've also been loaded but the kids flunked out and went down wrong path...Thats what I was getting at when people talk about 9,10,11,12 yr olds...They haven't had the choice to choose yet...Hopefully they keep them together and on right paths but its to early to tell. This past 7 is close to the 7 in 90's (93,94,95,96,97,98,99) but 90's played much harder competition 96&97 lost in 2&3rd rounds like 08,12...Won in 94,99 and I doubt anyone would disagree if it was like it is now like it is now 93,95,98 would've atleast made it with TC and BGA out of the way

Old Pirate says with J Lankford the only starting returner in the backfield, the Pirates will be less talented at the skill positions with depth talented but young. Coach Vic has routinely built the offense around a key player or players. OP is sure most SP folkes feel/know the Pirates have under achieved, ( state championships the goal every year) some due to injuries, some due to mental mistakes and lack of discipline fundamentally.Hopefully a more veteran team in 2013 will get another chance at a title. Now Croz Old Pirate says you GV folkes have most likely had the best 7 years of talent ever annd have yet to make it to the title game! OP says the Pirates have been consistantly strong but to attack coach Vic is not fair. When GV has a run like the Pirates have and do better then feel free to make comments......

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
