Jalen vs Jalen

Wow.. One of the dumbest post I have ever seen.

So what you are telling me is there are 2-3 4 star players in every district in the state?? That's basically what u said.

Hurd would not have started at Tennessee as a high school junior. There is a huge difference between high school football and division 1 sec football.

Maybin has probably had a better playoff run then Hurd based on statistics. Back to back 300 yard rushing games for maybin says something.

Hurd has had a great season and is a legit player but maybin is just as legit. Remember maybin had big time offers as well.

I'm curious as to what factors already project Hurd to be an nfl player as a high school junior. Does Bryce brown ring a bell? He was the nations top ranked rb a few years ago who tried to go to the nfl out of high school, ended up flaming out at UT and k state and was a 7th round pick..

I'm not attacking you personally but I think maybin and Hurd compare very closely as impact players at the high school level. But this post made zero sense and didn't make you look too bright. Sorry

Oh no! I think I may have come across wrong or maybe you read something into my post I didn't intend.

1 I don't think there are necessarily 2-3 four star players in every district in the state. I would never rely on such subjective measures as "might be a good match up in some situations and possibly make game changing plays as a Freshman" in my opinions. That could describe me or you.

2 You are right. Hurd might not have started at Tennessee as a Freshman this year. But if he didn't, Tennessee would have the best second string RB (TE? WR?) in the SEC.

3 I agree there is a big difference in high school football and SEC football. (i don't think he really thinks i said that)

4 What does back to back 300 yard rushing games mean? Does it mean NE used its only offensive weapon all 4 quarters? Does it mean he played more minutes? Did Hurd play all 4 quarters? Does it mean he is in the same class as Jalen Hurd?

5 I said " . . . compares to players who went on to play in the NFL". You read "is projected to be an NFL player". (and he's calling me dumb)

6 Re: Bryce Brown. So, you are saying the 'star' rating system doesn't work? (i thought that was my argument)

7 I am comfortable with my level of brightness

Ok. Enough objective Facts. I'm gonna go off script, a homer some would call it, and compare apples to apples. Henry county played both teams. Hurd rushed for 460 yards, 30 more in receptions, scored a half dozen touchdowns. Without him, Henry County wins by 4 touchdowns. Against Northeast, with our best defensive player out the first half, Reeves-Maybin had a good night but wasn't the best on their team. Hurd averaged 115 yards rushing per quarter against Henry County's starting defense, JR-M, 32 yards.

Hurd played in all 4 quarters against Hillsboro, I know, I watched the game. The biggest difference between the two is the team surrounding them. Beech has a lot more weapons. Therefore Hurd doesn't have to carry the team as much as Maybin. I would like to see a foot race between the 2. Maybin may be a tad faster. Should be a good matchup either way.

I think I read into your post very well actually. GWave hit it right on the head. Hurd played all 4 quarters against Hillsboro. I think his final stat line was 25 carries for 178 yards and 2tds. He didn't catch a pass either.

Like I said Maybin is a stud hands down. It's tough to compare him to Hurd because maybin doesn't have the team around him like Hurd does. Nothing against Hurd because he is a very special player. But if you compare defensive stats and offensive stats Maybin is way more important to his teams success in my opinion, although I think Hurd is the better player overall.

I agree that JR-M is a stud. He is probably more important to his team on the defensive side of the ball though he is very, very good on offense. However, when it comes to speed, he probably doesn't match JH. It was reported on these boards earlier this year that JH was electronically timed at 4.37 . Last year, in private conversation, the NE coach told me that Henry County's Najee Ray, who on his best day ran 4.5 to 4.6, could outrun JR-M 5 to 10 yards in a 100 Also, having seen both each two times in the last two years, JH looks faster to these old eyes.

On the matter of Bryce Brown, despite his "flaming out at UT and K-State" he is having some success in the NFL..

A 3.7 what?? Definitely not a 40... A 3.7 30 yard split maybe..

If you go by the scouts and offers give Hurd the edge as Maybin had not gotten as many top level teams as Hurd......

Both will have good college days- will be interesting to see what position Hurd plays .....

Did talk to Barton and he tells me he thinks Maybin will standout as LB IN College

I thought that'd get a rise out of you. No harm. I'm just trying to get to 500 posts. This should be 404. I enjoy reading your comments.

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
