Never happen Butchie,the qualities that Coach Bland displayed so eloquently in his letter are in short supply nowadays...instant gratification is the ticket and the majority probably support the decision.Humboldt's football program was/is one any community should be proud of...not trying to "upgrade" by knifing a solid coach(and obviously stellar human being) in the back.It sticks in my craw that they're spinning this deal now that Reid was slighted by not having the job as promised earlier being the reason...HOGWASH.Not trying to slight Coach Reid...for all I know he's just as wonderful as they say,but the administration has shown their true colors...mostly yellow.

 

 

Tradertwo so true couldnt have said it better ..its a much different time and day now in a swirling world we are losing slowly and having to be PC so as not to step on toes

People, we can choke this chicken for weeks and it's still what it is!!!! A travesty on the part of HHS. Dan Bland is a legendary coach in west Tennessee and deservedly so. He's a winner!! Not "good ol boys" this was some home cooking!!!!!!! I've never had an issue with Humboldt HS before now but NOW..............................................

 

Humboldt fans to some extent may be able to play down the "good 'ol boy" theme but explain away the "home cooking" one. It can't be done.

Just want to let everyone know that the boys told me that Coach Bland is going to throw them their awards banquet tonight. Shows some class to finish with the boys after what the administration has done. We wish Dan Bland the best in his next job. We will miss him in Humboldt!

Talk about being the man that follows the man...let Humboldt have a down year,kid or two get into trouble,or even have a questionable play call cost a game or two and a decade will be relativley short.I'm sure that there are a few folks left in the 'Boldt who appreciated what Coach Bland ment to the program...and you'll probably hear from them if the Vikings stumble. I have to admit that I don't know anything about coach Bland's record outside West TN but that alone is enouigh to warrant controversey considering his record at Humboldt (and some other area schools)!! I won't aim at a lot of the Viking fans because I know that they are as shocked as many of us others are but those who are responsible surely will pay for this one. I don't know the new "coach" but he better ride in on Pegasus swinging Hans Solo's light sabre to equal up.
