Just me .2 cents on Single A from what I've seen and heard from very reliable sources....

Union City will be there for sure. They had a girl get injured recently, but they're still the cream of the crop over here. I think the other spot out of the west will come down to Middleton, Scotts Hill or Lake Co. Also, a team to look out for is Huntingdon out of district 13A as well as Gleason of course. The second spot for Murfreesboro is pretty wide open in Single A this year.

From what I hear about Houston Co....they are at least a sub-state team out of middle. They have some pretty solid players and a freshman that is going to be really good in the years to come. I am also hearing Summertown is just as good as last years state tournament team despite losing Claire Franklin. Collinwood looks to be a force to be recogned with as does Moore Co.

My picks for Murfreesboro are...

Union City - Middleton - Summertown - Collinwood - Jackson Co. - Clarkrange - North Greene - Cosby

I saw Houston Co play Jackson Co on 11/10/12 at a preseason playday. Jackson Co won by 20+, but they played hard, and I heard their coach giving them a great pep-talk after the game. You could tell they all had a passion to win, they will have a bright future.

I do not see how anyone could pick the Class A state. You have about 8 teams out of the middle Tennessee area that could make it. Out of 9-A Moore County and Cascade. 10A you have Houston County. Then you have Summertown, Collinwood, and Loretto. Any of those teams could make it. I also hear that Cornersville is also a team that is coming on strong. Its going to be a great month coming up. Based on who mkaes it to the Boro, it all boils down to seeding because we all know if someone gets upset then it changes everything. Good Luck to all teams!

In all honesty, in a preseason playday. coaches are playing with different lineups and just trying to figure his team out. I'm sure Jackson Co. is better than Houston Co., but Houston Co. had a solid team last year when I saw them play and from what I hear this year, they are even better. I've also heard that 6 ft. Freshman that someone referred to is going to be a stud in the years to come. I haven't seen her play, but I've heard she's going to be a good one.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
    • What coach in their right mind would want to come here and set theirself on fire to keep her warm.
