Sorry the other 5AA schools do not have the recruiting budget that McMinn Central has to bring the kid to school. As for Tellico all the kids with talent are going to Central. If the kids that live in Tellico went to school there they would be at the state tournament this week and a long time to come. The 8th grader from Tellico has already had her picture made in a Central jersey. But they don't recruit. Young would make a great college recruiter.

If that's the case show proof of that. Mcminn Fire is the reason girls come to Central. Central cares about their program. There goal every year is to win the gold ball. If Tellico and surrounding areas want to have a great program, then start with a great feeder program which is what the Fire is. Don't make excuses as to why they are so good. The girls and their parents make the decisions as where they are going to go, not Joe Young!

With their huge recruiting budget, what are they doing for this girl? Is she getting a meal plan, maybe getting her books paid for, gas money, or what? Maybe a weekly allowance? Some new Jordan's? AAU teams are used for recruiting, its common knowledge. So to call an AAU team a feeder program is wrong. A feeder program is your local middle school not an AAU team.

McMinn Fire is not your typical AAU team. It is primarily made up of girls that will attend McMinn Central with the exception of one or two girls usually. And the Fire organization does not go out and get anyone, these players come to them.

I've known several girls from Meigs who have played for the fire at least one from Rhea and one from Tellico. I know of two from Bradley who were asked to play. But all this is at the middle school age or younger. But to me that's a plus for the program cause I know the coach knew that most of those girls were not going to go to MC. Speaks well of their program. And yes some of them actually asked to join or try out for the Fire. Hope they keep it up.

Yes there are always a few that come from other places because they know the Fire's reputation. But as I said the majority are going to MC. I can't really comment on the younger ones so you may be right. I am mainly talking 7th and 8th grade.

Central girls assistant coach Joe Young coaches the 8th grade Fire team and is very involved with - if not coaching the 7th graders many times. I know for a fact he encourages certain girls on the Fire team from other areas to consider staying together and coming to Central. Just watch and see how many girls from the current 8th grade Fire team comes to Central that would have normally gone elsewhere - at least 3. There's nothing illegal about this as far as I know, but it's recruiting in a sense.

Most area high school teams have their own AAU teams for 8 th graders leaving middle school. They may not go by the schools name but its all legal and usually by that time they already know we're they're going.
