This will be a tough game for south to win especially if the pass d isnt better than friday. Prider one bad call doesnt mean south would have lost if so we could look at the 2 obvious interference no calls against the chiefs. Cherokee plays boone this friday, very interested to see that final score.

South's run defense was much better than I anticipated last Friday. I like the changes they have made on defense and believe they will be prepared to slow down the Henley to Mitchell combo. I'd look for the Vikes to bust some big runs up the middle with South concentrating on helping out on Mitchell. Both teams will score frequently and any turnover will be costly when most possessions will result in points. South in a big upset displaying a physical running game: 42-41

Crawdad how would you describe Cherokee's offense?  Against South were they more balanced or primarily a running team?

They were billed as a running team that would rely on a committee of backs. South shut down the run and Coach Sivert discovered he had a pretty good replacement for the graduated Ty Ryans. They were bogged down on offense until they spread it out. The Rebels were unable to generate much pressure and I'm sure they will work on that this week.

After the jamboree according to the papers i thought South was already crowned State Champs. You mean they actually have to play football games this year. They lost to Cherokee if it was not for the home cooking. I see TN High taking this one...

Prider,

I'm pretty sure a group of refs from Greeneville isn't home cooking.  My Chiefs informant (the Cherokee dad I sat next to at their South game), said they were Greeneville zebras.  So I call B S on "homecooking".  Yeah, they were bad and of course I saw the wcyb clip. And I was there.  They were bad both ways honestly.  But, you know, you don't just have the Sullivan North Johnny Majors Offense to contend with this year.  You do get your shot at the Rebels.  So I would talk some smack.

As far as South vs TN High goes:  neither team plays very good pass defense.  Both teams have multiple offensive weapons.  The Vikings RBs make the difference in this one, IMO.  I think South will be so intent on covering Mitchell and the other WRs, that Sir and company will move the pigskin.  South doesn't use Headrick enough running the ball, so that hurts them too.  I loved watching that kid play pre-varsity.  Skat back personified.

So, to make a prediction, I gotta say TN High by 17.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
