Harpeth has 5 wins now, they will be in the playoffs.

As for Grundy, wins over Bledsoe and Cumb. Co, gets them to 4 wins, and as coachrus stated that is usually enough. If Bledsoe beats Grundy they could get to 4 wins,, plug them into Grundys spot.

It won't be exactly like this, but somethings are relatively secure... It's the bubble teams that stir the mix.

I think that this year 4 wins will not "guarantee" a spot in the 3A playoffs. Based on teams that are favored at this point, I think at least 2 teams with 4 wins will not make it. That makes the strength of schedule tie breaker very important.

You don't have to have 5 wins. Usually 4 wins gets you in. Some years 3 wins and a strong schedule (for tiebreaker) gets you in.

I looked into it all on the tssaa website, and your right about what you are trying to get at. A teams total number of wins is really a non factor. According to the TSAAA site, teams are guaranteed playoff spots if they finish in the top two of their district.Once those teams are determined they are placed in their quads and all first place teams get first priority when it comes to seeding, followed up by second place teams getting second priority. The teams they do not finish in the top 2 of there district but qualify for the playoffs get last priority seeding wise. They then choose the last teams to make it in based on their position in the football playoff standings. As it stands today, Grundy is currently 6 spots out from the 32 teams listed as being in the playoffs based on current records and district standings.

While you are technically correct about the 1st and 2nd teams in the district, very rarely ,if ever, does a 1st or 2nd place team not already qualify as a top 32 team. So, the 1st and 2nd place really only affects the seeding and not the top 32 which is based on overall wins. If a team finishes 1st or 2nd in a district and is not in the top 32, they would bump out the 32nd place team.

Its all still a little confusing, but I am looking at the TSSAA site and it states teams that finish in the top 2 of their district standings get first and second priority when it comes to seeding. Says that the teams that did not finish top 2 district wise will make up the remaining field of the 32 team bracket and will recieve last seeding priority which is based on total overall wins and followed up by tie breakers if needed. So doesnt all that basically mean that a 2nd place 6-4 team from one district will be seeded lower than say a  3rd place finishing 7-3 team from another district even though they have a better record?

No. First they determine the 32 teams and then split them into 4 Quads by geography. Then the district winners get seeded first with the tie breaker system of wins etc. Next the runner-ups get seeded. (Keep in mind that a district winner and/or runner-up could be a 4A team and not a 3A, so not all district winners or runner-ups will be in the 3A playoff). After they are all seeded, the remaining teams in the Quad are seed based on overall wins and then tie breakers.

CPA will not go West, Cascade will either be in Quad 2 or Quad 3, Stewart Co. will not get in the playoffs. I could go on and on, good try Charlie, but it won't look like this.

Alright Gerry..... in your opinion.... what are the odds Milan gets in with 4 wins???  I don't think it is impossible to get to 5, but I feel fairly confident we will get to 4.

If Milan gets to 4 wins..... the strength of schedule component will greatly help us.  At least 8 and probably 9 teams on our schedule will have won 50% or more of their games!!!
