If our defense can't get some stops last year will repeat it's self. We will be in lots of games but lose in the 4th Qtr. We can't expect the offense to score every single possession.

im still saying 4-5 wins thru first 6 games.

 

I have thought the same thing for a while now.....after watching the tape from Friday night, I will have to say that a lot will have to change defensively for this to happen.  I don't envy the position that the defensive coaches are in, they spent all of spring, and now the first three weeks of fall trying to put this scheme in and they have been run off the field twice trying to run it......one time by Catholic in spring and then Friday night vs SD.....do you scrap it, or do you continue trying to make it work?  Hard decision to make....they have mediocre talent at best on defense, and they need those guys playing at 100% of their potential to have a chance to compete, and it appears that they are so confused trying to make reads and figure out what gap to cover, that they are actually playing at 65% to 70%.  Wish them the best.

will play who will help them be a better team

That's always the best approach. The question is when it will help the team. Will it help the team more to score a late 3rd qtr TD with srs when the game is already out of reach or to give the young guys an extra qtr of playing time?

 

IMO-if a sr and soph are equal in ability, the soph should play at least half the time. That soph is going to help the team/program a lot more over the next two years than that sr. I'm not saying the sr shouldn't play, but being a better team is more than about one game or one quarter or one drive.

 

Other than a new head coach every other year, my biggest criticism of wb is that too many times I've seen them leave srs in games to cut into the deficit after the outcome has been decided.

 

Hopefully, they are 5-1 heading into the game at west.
