sounds like the d picked it up a notch.....what did the o look like....

Secondary still struggling but looked better, they run the screen pass to perfection over there. Too many missed tackles too but they'll be ok. On offense I thought we ran the ball well but had way too many dropped passes.

So basically what I seen at the 7-7 is still happening in regular play. They're gonna have to step it up and be more consistent. This team is to talented to end 6-4 again.

WC  missed way to many open field tackles on those screenplays!  They killed us on them all scrimmage long!

Actually that's two scrimmages in a row they have burned us on the screen but I will say they run it good and everybody blocks it the right way. I thought our boys done a little better at getting into position to make a play on it but that's where the missed tackles killed us.

Yep still have alot of work ahead to get better and I think we will!  WC played alot of different people early and often!  Most kids had lots of playing time and that's always a plus!

Can't always go by scrimmages. Trust me i can say with experience. My freshman year in 1968 in Linden, we played a really good Columbia Central team and only lost i believe it was 14-7. Everybody thought we'd be the best in the smaller division (that's the way it was in those days) but we went 4-6 and missed the playoffs. I believe Wayne County will be better than last year. I'd predict 8-2. Anything less than that i will be pretty shocked. Good Luck to the 'Cats and can't wait to go down Hwy 412 on September 19th to watch the Vikings and Wildcats. Hopefully it will be just as competitive as last years 20-6 game that was played in that ded-gum monsoon!

Good luck to y'all too, maybe this year it won't rain!

I'll answer you over here, instead of in the Waverly thread wildcats89. As far as Wayne County is concerned, your running backs are some of the most physical I've watched this past year or two. 14 and 21 appear to look for contact and enjoy it. The QB does a great job of waiting to the last second to pull the ball out of the RB's arm's on the read as well. Offensively, I imagine if those three stay healthy, it will be a long night for most teams defenses.

Defensively, I know you guys are worried about the secondary, but if there is one thing we have right now, it is playmaker's at WR and RB. However, your pass rush was pretty strong. If the qb can't get time to throw, you can hide the secondary some. Last night, besides the screens and a quick hitter to #8 for a TD, which got called back, you never really saw us have a lot of time to sit in the pocket. The Qb was on the run.

I don't know how strong A ball is, as I watch mainly AAA and AAAA, but I have a hard time seeing you guys really struggling too much. Hopefully everyone stays healthy, and you guys can make a good run in the playoffs this year.

*Thought there was noticeable improvement from both teams since the spring.

Thanks for the good post. It's nice to get an outsiders perspective. It also helps to make since of the scrimmage now knowing what y'all's strengths are and how we matched up and compared to other teams you've seen.
